As a proud man of east sussex (well proud might be going a bit far...) I was just wondering where exactly you had pictured Birkham Stokes to be in the county? I am in Burwash which I think was considered (on the most of optimistic hopes) to be pretty much on the days objective front for the first day of operation sealion, though frankly this would have run the whermacht up against the famous drunken Farleys of here-abouts and that would have been an interesting confrontation.....

It'll be Rotherfield for me. Living in the ex Home Guard house fits the bill nicely

I think it's somewhere along the road from Studley Constable to Bramley End...

Unfortunately, having watched Went the Day Well? recently I'll only be able to associate it with the real village used in that film - Turville in Buckinghamshire.

It’s here:

https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?client=safari&q=sussex&ie=UTF...

Just in between Maresfiled, Buxted and Uckfield, where the A22 and A26 converge.

Uckfield is the start of the pillbox line going all the way along the railway line up to Edenbridge. I counted over 22 on a bored commute up to London a few years back

Should be easy to win, the Germans will be so seasick after sailing in barges all the way to Canada. Those forests look a bitch to fight through as well.
