It worked for Beanie Babies. It worked for Cartman in 'South Park' (for a while, anyway).

And it worked for Flappy Bird.

I'm such a sucker. I have played about 10 games on my phone in the past year. But now, thanks to some dumb stunt from the developer, I know what #11 will be as soon as it returns to the market.

Never heard of it until this story. Worked on me (well, that and it's free). Managed a score of 64 over the weekend.

Why would Nintendo launch a lawsuit doomed to fail?

I got to 3 and stayed there for about 30-40 tries, then I made it to 6 8.

Why does anyone sue anyone ever?

Obvious lift of Mario. If a company doesn't protect its trademarks and copyrights no one else will.

Want to see a lawsuit doomed to failure succeed?

Check out DC vs Fawcett over Captain Marvel....and then Marvel stealing the name because they didn't protect it.

If the leaderboards are to be trusted, the person who has the highest score on this game has over 9 quintillion points. Given the amount of time it would take to count that high (about 32 billion years, which is twice the estimated age of the entire universe, just to get to one quintillion, if you count one number every second), I'm going to call shenanigans.

Not if you count in the other direction. Underflow FTW!

And is this game anything like Tiny Wings? That was a good game, three years ago.

I don't see an "obvious lift". Nintendo can't copyright green pipes.

Don't you guys have jobs and stuff. I played two games, got 1 one time and 3 the other time and decided I was done.

Does it do anything later besides make you just fly through gaps in pipes? Or is WYSIWYG the whole time. Because I don't think I'd have the patience for anything more if that's all there was. At least the jetpack game kept giving me new missions.

I don't think you get much more from only 2-3 days of coding

No, that's about it. I just find that it has a very addicting "One more time!" feel to it. While I was waiting in my doctor's office this morning, I managed to get up to 44.

When does the medal at the end change color? I found that at 10 it turns bronze. I assume there is a silver and a gold medal if you get far enough.

Pretty sure it was all just a publicity stunt. Maybe in a month, he'll magically have a flip-flop moment:

"Due to the amount of critical feedback I received, I've decided to rerelease it... for one day... for $10 a download."
