I've just recently acquired Dust and the group for its first play will consist of 5. I know from looking at the board as well as bgg posts that 5-player will skew a little oddly in favor of the player with an empty adjacent capital space.

Has anyone used or come across ways of mitigating this situation for five player games?

Just attack that player a bit more...

Players may not attack an adjacent enemy capital as the first capital that they attack in the game.

Be sure to not let the fifth player who does not have a human enemy in his adjacent capital take over his continent when claiming areas/power sources.
