Hi all,

I haven't played BL in a long time and got excited to revisit it when 2nd ed was announced. Anyways I found the 3 dwarf expansions and call to arms for a reasonable price and picked them up.

I haven't received them yet, but was wondering how the expansions integrate with the base game? Call to Arms seems pretty straight forward but what about the dwarven expansions? Do they integrate with Call to Arms or do you use the Lore Council to add the units to your army?

Just getting excited to play again. Thanks!

Scenarios come with each expansion, and I think most expansions have specialist cards to use with Call to Arms. note that BL 2nd ed is a different game and not compatible.

Yep, I'm aware that BL 2 is different. I own the 1st edition with the hill giant and earth elemental, but never had the time to get into the advance rules or expansions. Now I have some time and want to pull it back out.

The expansions have their own scenario's, and they include specialist cards to use the new units in Call to Arms games.

If you also have the BattleLore: Bearded Brave expansion, it includes normal deployment cards for the units. Those aren't specialist cards that say "change all blue banner units to Dwarf spearmen" or something like that, but the cards that show the units and their position on the map.

In addition to what Benjamin and Andreas posted, one can also swap units out for any scenario - typically green banner for green banner, blue for blue, etc. This usually will change the balance of a scenario/adventure, but is a reasonable way to introduce expansion units to the board.

Enjoy the game!

Not sure if Vassal is of interest to you, but still some of us around that play BL1E there.
