Hi guys,

round 1 for the 2014 edition of the Derk Cup is up.

2014 Derk Cup - Round 1

It's in the nature of the geek that the list is pretty euro-centric, but there's quite a few wargame designers (and some close to wargames) up for vote:

Ted Racier, Don Greenwood, Chad Jensen, Mark Simonitch, Richard Borg among others.

Round 1 ends Feb 16, 12 am. Let's spread some love for the designers responsible for so many entertaining gaming hours...

Cheers,
Carsten

After winning the Derk cup 10 consecutive years, Mark Herman retired from it so that someone else could win.

(I'm having withdrawls after last week's post).

Ah, that's why they reset the counting with the 2010 Derk Cup...

Looks like Chad will advance; Don Greenwood might just manage it too. Ted Raicer is up against Friedmann Friese, which is pretty tough.

Of course, Chad has an advantage in that he's designed a popular Euro as well as wargames.

Speaking of Chad...

Round 2 is up and only Mrs. Borg and Jensen advanced.
2014 Derk Cup - Round 2

Richard Borg has a comfortable lead on Christian Petersen, but Chad Jensen has a tough matchup with Donald Vaccarino. He took an early lead but now the Dominion lovers have woken up...

Cheers,
Carsten

By the way, Carsten, the proper abbreviation for multiple men is "Messrs." "Mrs." is for women.

Indeed. And I read right past that again when I reread my post just now... Thanks for pointing it out...

The cup is over now, with Vlaada Chvatil winning over Stefan Feld. Richard Borg was the last to fall in the 3rd round...

Hi Carsten,
The first time I noticed this was when it popped up in the general Wargames forum. It was already finished which was a real shame.

I have subscribed so presumably will get involved in next years competition.

A great idea, a real shame it didn't percolate down to the stygian depths of the Wargamers forum until it was over.
