Hey!

Just wanted to share that I started a new podcast and launched our first episode this week.

The show is called 20 Minutes of Filler ( http://www.20minutesoffiller.wordpress.com )and will explore filler games in 20 minute bursts. We'll discuss and recommend different games, interview folks and do what we can to dive into topics related to these great little games.

In our first episode, we try to define some key characteristics for filler games and chat about Pixel Tactics and Cheaty Mages!.

I hope you'll check it out. We've submitted it to the iTunes store but that will take a little time so until then you can find the show here:

By the way, Jason. We're big fans of The Great Heartland Hauling Company and I've enjoyed your interviews with various podcasts in the past.

I just listened to Episode of 20 Minutes of Filler and really enjoyed it. I like that you guys are talking more about the games, the niches that they can fill, and their overall place in hobby as opposed to in depth walk throughs and rules break downs.

As I have been running a weekly gaming group at work for the past three years, I seek out these types of games as they fit nicely within the lunch hour time constraints that I have.

I'm looking forward to what you guys continue to produce.

Thanks so much, Jim. I appreciate the support. Glad to hear you are enjoying my game. I really like the filler niche and figured I'm not alone in that so why not go for it?!

I thnk in general we'll avoid straight up reviews and come at the topic from different angles. The next episode is an interview with a publisher and will get posted in a bit. Thanks again.

Wow, for a first episode, y'all sounded like veterans. Good sound quality as well. Pixel Tactics is a game I have looked at for a while. I know I'll enjoy it. The only thing holding me back is that I already have so many two player fighting games.

I'd appreciate it if y'all would mention some of your favorite games. Doesn't have to be a top ten, but a short gamer bio helps me to understand your opinions on other games.

Thanks for the compliment! And for listening.

Good idea to share our favorites. I think we'll something like that soon. With a short format like this it's tough to get in all the info we want. So we'll have to come up with a way to reveal stuff over time.

Thanks! I really want to focus on game recommendations as opposed to reviews and walk throughs and I'm really glad you picked up on that and enjoyed it!

I think games and people are so varied, it's too difficult to give something a static rating and expect that to inform game purchasing decisions. I think if we try to focus on what type of gamer would like this game, what kinds of groups would be drawn to it, and what kind of experience the game gives, we can be a lot more helpful in the short 20-25 minutes that we have.

My favorite 18xx game for six players is two games of 1846 with three players each.

I like the Old Filler/New Filler question. No Thanks! is one of my favorite games. I love introducing it to new players. There is always an Aha! moment somewhere within the first game when the light bulb turns on and new players get it. Then they immediately want to play again and it gets nasty. I love the amount of trash-talking you can do in this game.

Trying to guess whether or not you can send a high card around the table once more or if someone already out of chips makes for great gaming moments.

Thanks for the podcast. I like it that it is only 20 minutes. Very appropriate.
