This weekend we were setting up an arena on a hotel kitchen counter. This had two unusual features: an immovable wall on the back edge, and it was kinda narrow.

We decided to put up rails on some (not all) of the long sides, lest the narrowness make it too easy to knock discs off the table. And we ruled that both these and the back wall were not terrain; you could safely hit them when attacking, couldn't cause damage by bashing discs into them, couldn't electrify them with Malandrax or count them toward Pendros's UA bonus, etc.

This prevented us from having to decide whether Hikaru was allowed to demolish the wall of our hotel room. But also, it turned out to be fun! The end of the counter mostly protected by rails was safer when Oriana was after you, but was a really difficult place to get away from Amon.

Totally a worthwhile variant even if not forced upon you by circumstances.

I don't see how this is fun then. I'm sure if you explained to the hotel management that your demolishing the wall was completely legal by the rules there would have been no problem.
