Where and how do you play this online? I've caught little bits here and there, but not sure where to go.

I haven't played the game before, read up on it, watched tons of videos, and am curious as to how to give it a try online, maybe even in finding a person to play a first game with, so I can see how it goes.

The guide is a big help, though I do still find OCTGN intimidating. I'm still learning the software and I'd be glad to play a game or two with you (and we can stumble through this stuff together). Shoot me a geekmail if you're interested, and maybe we can work out a time.

There is a beta Mac client on the OCTGN website. I'm a Windows user though so no idea what it's like.

Nearly unusable. Use VM (Parallels, VMWare, VirtualBox) with Windows on Mac.

Same for Linux, it works perfectly in VirtualBox, not so much in wine. (just turn hardware rendering off)

Or it might be less frustrating to wait for FFG to launch an official, bug-free platform.

The market is there, it's really just a matter of time...

Thanks for the help all. Two snags I'm running into right now:

1. I can't seem to get into the site http://octgn.gamersjudgement.com/wordpress/anr/installation/... to get the card packs (for the artwork). Solved

2. Is there a place to be able to download or view a preset basic deck? I don't mind deckbuilding, of course, but I'm looking for just a generic deck to give it a try with. Didn't realize OCTGN had premade starter decks.

if you are familiar with the game, but not octgn. mention that in the game description. a lot of people are willing to walk through any UI questions you might have during a game.

Yep, I was lucky enough to run into someone who walked me through a game with him. I won (woohoo), but probably not due to any real skill. Definitely fun, though. I think I'll be haunting OCTGN for a while.

Has there been any official mention about this from FFG? I've used OCTGN a few times but it's definitely lacking in a lot of rule-enforcement areas so that makes it frustrating to play. If FFG implemented a Magic Online-style client, I'd sign up immediately.

I sincerely hope they do better than the mess that is MTGO.

^ Definitely. I just mean in the sense of a client that actively enforces game rules. MtGO certainly needs a lot of work.

I'd like an IPhone app version as that is my only Internet at the moment.
