Outsider. But still pretty punk.

I recently asserted that the first punk was Little Richard:

I'll stand by that until the day I die. "Long Tall Sally" delivers everything that punk stands for. It is the starting point for everything that makes Rock and Roll great.

Three? That was more than TV Smith thought ... (although I prefer The Adverts' Gary Gilmore's Eyes)

Although some punk did have a bit more structure and even sax

I like a lot of punk, and I like that folks here are going outside of punk and finding other punk artists. Little Richard is a good one; the Who is another one I've always considered punk (at least their early stuff was). And then there's this, which I think is an extraordinary punk song:

So many fun memories in the early 80's.

I dig Beethoven and Bach too.

Pretend I'm dumb. But I've been thinking a lot about this as I try to get a bit better with Music Theory.

What makes a song Punk? I mean, I know some things, I think. But what's the hallmark.

What makes a song Blues? I mean, it's a given for Delta music, but I mean, people consider Clapton Blues too, what is it that makes it that.

What makes a song Country?

What makes a song Grunge?

I'd like if someone could lay out some easy definitions for a dumb guy like me. Or at least, point me to a resource that tries to lay out some definitions for defining a genre.
