So I'm thinking, it might be fun to try and build a completely annoying squad for an upcoming session. That is, not one that has any expectation of winning a lot and doesn't really output a lot of offense but would give your opponent fits to fly against. Think finger nails on a chalk board. Then it got me thinking, what's the most annoying squad that the BGG community could or have come up against when playing.

Here's one I was thinking about.
Pure Annoyance
Gold Squadron Pilot (24) - R2 Astromech & Ion Cannon Turret X 3
Kyle Katarn (28) - Blaster Turret & Recon Specialist

So what squad would drive you batty?

There is no reason to have two A's at the beginning of aardvark. I simply won't do it.

One of the most interesting squads I've ever heard of is called the "Rebel Convoy".

2x Goldie Y-Wings w/ion turret
2x Outer Rim Smuggler YT-1300
100 pts total.

Block with the Outer Rim Smugglers and ion with the Y-wings.

Also, while it probably won't win tournaments, I'd hate to play against a squad that includes:

Kath + Marksmanship + Ion Cannon + Rebel Captive

Having my highest PS ships ionized + stressed all the time would suck, especially for pilots with PtL, etc.

I think if I ever encountered someone who just parked ships, I would just refuse to engage. Play the game or I'll just take the draw wait for the next round.

My buddy and I have said the same. You're free to play how you choose, but I'm free to not engage. I'd rather take a draw and fly in circles on my side than engage someone resorting to whatI feel is cheap tricks.

That said I also despise multi-falcon builds in general and would hate to face one in a championship, because I feel like it is almost a gauranteed loss. I prefer the dogfighting aspect, and am quite happy about the top four players(going based on world's top two) did not resort to dual falcons to win.

At my local game store, for casual play, we usually don't allow multiple large ships because of how frustrating they are and the fact that depending on asteroid placement, take little skill to fly(mostly YT-1300s in that regard).

Huh, that ORS HWK build is kind of cool. I really don't care for the Falcon since it's usually just a murder turret without much maneuvering, but that's pretty clever. Anyone know how he did?

I just realized, why not drop the R2s and use the Moldy Crow title instead? That means you can do 1 forwards to start, hoard up on focus tokens and then have lots of passing fun.

I've flown two Outer Rim Smugglers with Weapons Engineers and Dutch Vander with an ion turret. Target locks for days and 28 points of damage to deal out if you want to beat it.

Also heard about that HWK+ORS squad, man that would be frustrating. Haven't read the write-up, but if it is flown as a wall it would be even worse...

Dual Falcons probably gets my actual vote, though.

Yep. The most annoying squad I've actually had to face is this one.

It's probably the most common complaint of many an X-wing player (aside from scale issues): the Millennium Falcon's 3-attack 360° turret and ridiculously good dial takes the best part (maneuvering) out of the game. See here for recent evidence.

What really surprised me was a picture on metal bikini (how did I not know that site existed?) of a YT in the middle of the board, with range rulers extending from either side. It covered nearly the entire thing!

And with white 1-hard-turns, it can pretty much pivot on the spot. Or it can orbit an asteroid with white 2-hard-turns. Or run away with a white 4-straight (same distance as a 5-straight for small ships). And while it rarely needs them, it has the flexibility of two K-turn distances (3 and 4)... the only red on its dial!

Chewie naked is 42 points. A ship better be that good for that many points.

Also, being the Falcon, way more people would complain if it wasn't good. The Fett grumblers would be nothing. Thousands of voices would cry out.

Chewie and 2 ORS can be run with a 4 point upgrade. That seems rather outrageous, even to a falcon fanboy.
