There's a whole bunch of blue and orange plastic icons that have little stands. They all have numbers on them and there's no mention of them in the manual. Are they just 3d versions of the target lock cardboard chits?
Thanks. I'm dumb!

What orange icons? What stands? Picture?
There are no pictures in the rulebook because they are not core game components. (Nor expansions, as far as I can tell.)

Yes, litko is offering 3-d versions of the tokens in xwing.
The blue and orange (red) set are the target locks. They have the X shape of crosshairs inside the ring.

I bought a set but ended up going back to the original cardboard ones. The idea was you put them in the little numbered stand so they would stand up but at least in my set they weren't tight enough to stand up

I've found that the cardboard ones fit quite nicely. If you don't need your number slot then it's actually really convenient to not need to move the tokens around the table,

I really like using stand-up target locks.
I got plastic stands from http://www.em4miniatures.com/acatalog/GAME_AIDS.html put them in The Chopper (a hobby guillotine with a razor blade to trim the bases, and put target locks in them.
X-Wings get red bases, Y-Wings yellow, etc. Also repainted the red locks to match ship numbers and don't need blue locks except for Col. Jendon types.

Thank you! They are these ones exactly: http://www.litko.net/products/Space-Fighter%2C-Target-Marker...
So we're supposed to put the cardboard target lock chits inside those? My x-wing set actually came with those add-ons. I'm not sure why.

I bought a pack from Litko. You have to use an adhesive (i.e. Super glue, plastic cement) with the 3-D target lock. They will not stand up by themselves. It says it in the product description.
I actually like them a lot. It's a lot better than the standard cardboard.

I wish somebody just made small acrylic ones that would fit on the ship bases.

It's sadly not really possible. I've experimented with doing that in the past. The reason the cardboard ones stick is because they crush a little bit when you shove them in there. Acrylic is too hard, not to mention the manufacturing tolerances aren't tight enough to guarantee an accurate material width. That's why you'll get 3D stuff from me or Litko or whoever that needs to be glued.

Erik, I just re-read your post and realized we were talking about 2 different things. You are looking for some really small target locks that fit on the standard ship base, instead of laying on the table beside them, right?
If so, I'll see what I can come up with. Almost every product I carry started out as a custom request from somebody. So if you guys have a desire for something different, please use the contact form on my website and let me know. I'm here for you guys. I want to make what you actually want to have. Here's the contact link for future reference. http://www.appliedperspective.com/acrylic/contact-2/

Yes would love small acrylic target lock tokens. Since they have a tendency to stay on the board, it would be nice to be able to set them on the ship base to simplify movement.
