This Sunday was the Cloud Cap Games Store Championship.

We had 17 runners compete in five 65 minute rounds of swiss. The inestimable Joe Held filmed some of the top matches and helped with TO and judging duties, which allowed me to participate in the competition, to good effect.

Thanks to everyone who played, to Joe for helping out, and to James and Kristen (Cloud Cap owners) for setting up and hosting.

Here are the final standings:

In the final round all of the top contenders split their matches. So, to my surprise, I managed to eek out a very close win on tie-breakers. Throughout the tournament, almost all of my games were close, and could've gone either way.

Here are the faction and identity breakdowns:

Interestingly, we saw all runner IDs except The Professor competing.

Time is short... so I'll be posting deck lists and some more detail later on.

Looks like a simple Rototurret would be troublesome for this Andy deck, yet she's not packing any Parasites. Why then would you play Deja Vu over more Clone Chips? Your Suckers get shut down too often?

Does Blackmail play an important role in this killer-less strategy?

In fact I made the deck the night before the tournament. So I didn't really have any good reason to play Deja Vu over something else. I just wanted loads to opportunities to recur events, not just programs. Luckily I didn't see that many Rototurrets. Had I seen more things would probably have ended differently. But I do recall struggling to get by sentries in a few games. And I've already changed by sentry-breaker suite based on my experience in this tournament.

I don't think I've ever had a Datasucker get shut down --- not in this tournament or in any other games. (I've only actually seen Power Shutdown played in Weyland or HB, then either saved for breaking Plascretes or going for the big combo.) During the tournament the Datasuckers only really helped in one game. I daresay I could manage without them.

I added Blackmail just gambling that I'd see a lot of GRNDL at the tournament. And I guess I made the right choice, because I saw a couple. In one game I scored all of my agendas against GRNDL in exactly four runs: three Blackmails (one Deja Vu'd) and an Inside Job.

Oh. Deja Vu can recur events too. Right. That makes much more sense now
