John has been anxious to play the expanded 5-6 player version of Settlers. Our group has only played once before, and that was over two years ago when we had a weekend of gaming at the Moore family camp in Mandeville. He was joined by Steven, Lenny, Ashton, Keith and Josh.
In spite of some rules difficulties, the group did manage to play with few problems. From their notes, it was clear that stone was a rare commodity. Lenny and John had placed wisely, attempting to build adjacent to the '6' regions. Sadly, '6' proved as scarce as stone, so they both suffered early.
Keith, John and Ashton did manage to get enough elusive stone to quickly build cities. A large struggle over the 'Longest Road' ensued, with roads converging from all directions into a major intersection. Lenny managed to hold the card for most of the game, but Steven stole it from him in the game's waning moments.
In spite of his early difficulties, John managed to surge into contention and teetered on the edge of victory for several turns. It was Keith, however, who emerged victorious, based on the strength of his Largest Army and wealth of resource cards.
Finals: Keith 10, John 9, Steven 7, Ashton 6, Josh 5, Lenny 4
Ratings: Josh 9, Steven 8.5, Lenny 8, Ashton 8, Keith 7.5, John 6
