Had a blast playing this for the first time last nite at First Minnesota Historical Wargame Society

Good ole meat and potatoes strategic level wargame:

Solid combat system: zoc's, supply lines, decent CRT
Fun chrome: naval war simulated, effect of espionage, etc
Easy rules - can be playing in a few minutes
Easy setup - takes a couple of minutes
Fun game of maneuver
Uses transport points/build points to tailor your reinforcements each turn

Also, had a good laugh when the following happened - first three naval rolls:

snake eyes - Russian sinks its entire Vladivostok fleet ....

box cars: Great Russian naval victory: Japanese transport/build points halved for the rest of the game ... arrrh

...and then, of course: box cars: Great Russian naval victory: Japanese transport/build points halved again (now quartered) for the rest of the game

At that point we instituted a house rule that the Great Russian naval victory is only a one term effect.

Again, besides that good laugh, a fun tense game (3 to 4 hours) - and a good way to introduce people to the hobby.

Plan to give it another go sooner than later to see how the game holds up to repeated plays.

Re: Thumbs UP
IIRC, there was an erratum to the effect all transport point reductions are temporary.

Re: Thumbs UP
Thanks. Guess we need to get a copy of that.

We played the game as a part of our "Really Good Fridays" event at our local game store, THE SOURCE, where our club, First Minnesota Historical Wargame Society , tries & teaches new games:
