Come one; come all to the biggest tabletop gaming event the HRM has ever seen! On April 5th, the gaming organizations in Halifax and surrounding areas are uniting under the Tabletop banner to bring gaming to the masses.
Located in the cafeteria area of the Student Centre at Saint Mary's University, this event has space for close to 150 people and will feature games from all genres, age ranges, and difficulties. You will see classics like Monopoly and Scrabble, new Euro games like Settlers of Catan and Ticket to Ride, and deep strategy games like Game of Thrones and Twilight Imperium. We’ll even have some miniature gaming going on from the Warhammer universe! Come out and hone your game or try something new! We feel that this variety of games is suitable for ages 8 and up. Make sure your parents come with you, kiddies!
Surely such an amazing event must cost many tens of dollars, right? NO! This event is FREE but we ask that attendees make a $5 donation at the door which will go towards Feed Nova Scotia, a local organization whose mission is to feed hungry people, eliminate chronic hunger and alleviate poverty. You can find more about this important organization at their website: http://www.feednovascotia.ca/index.html and like them on their Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/feednovascotia?fref=ts
During the course of the day, we will have a 50/50 draw and raffles for games that have been generously donated by our sponsors. Proceeds raised here will also go to Feed Nova Scotia.
Gamers need food to keep going and Saint Mary’s does not disappoint! An on campus cafeteria features all you can eat lunch and supper for $10 and $12.75 respectively. The cafeteria offers a wide variety of food choices ranging from pizza and pasta, to grilled items and salads. With such a great food option, there’s no need to bring any offsite food to the venue (and we’d get in trouble if you did, so help us out!)
This location offers ample free parking and you can find a spot via the parking map found in the photos section.
We hope to see you at this fun event and we want you to share your picture and video experiences here and on our Facebook Page (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Halifax-Tabletop-Day/479596955...) and with us on Twitter @hfxtabletopday.
Make sure you tag all your posts with #tabletopday so Tabletop and Geek&Sundry know that Halifax knows how to game!

Great. I think you crossed a line when you called Settlers of Catan and Ticket to Ride "new" though.
Unfortunately for the members of this site most people would consider them new games, as they are less than 70 years old.
Here's the list so far of what games we'll have available. And before you criticize some of the titles, remember that this is an event for the general public that aims to include gamers of all backgrounds and game experiences

This was my first International Table Top Day event in Halifax (I moved here in December) and I had a great time! So far, I'm really impressed with the number and quality of the gamers in HRM, not to mention The Board Room, which has become one of my favourite places. Looking forward to Table Top Day next year.
Don't forget to join the meetup group as well Donna. There's a lot of gaming going on every week in the area.
