Hi all,

This is the forum thread for LL PBEM #11, a 5-player game of the Epic Druid Nights (6 rounds). We will be playing via Vassal 3.2.10, Krang module 1.3.3.

Since it's 5-player, we will be adding 2 countryside tiles and 1 non-city Core tile. We will also use the following rules:

- Random Hero Assignment
- Round 1 Random Tactic Selection Order
- Random tile rotation
- City is Green

Players are:

Game setup complete, Google Drive folder distributed. Let me know if you have any issues.

One question we should answer: since this is 5-player, should we play this fully open, i.e. 5 columns? 4-player rules are limited to 4 columns; I recommend 5 for 5 players.

Up next for tactic selection:

i have a question:
in your log (Goldyx), after you rolled the dice for the source its says:
"Goldyx deed shuffle"
why did you shuffled your cards?

It's an attempt to minimize/disincentivize cheating. A cheating player could look at the upcoming cards, plan out their future turns, and then start a new log file. Randomizing the shuffle mid-turn prevents this.

Of course, if someone really wanted to cheat, they could just keep playing through their turn, shuffling, drawing, and then deciding whether or not to log the file. We're hoping that we don't encounter those people when we play, and it provides a deterrent towards doing so even if we do.

For me personally, it's a minor effort to shuffle, so I don't mind doing it.

One note: don't shuffle AAs, Units, Spells, or Artifacts, as cards that aren't used as sent to the bottom, and we don't want those reappearing unless you go through the deck.

So just to understand it correct, I should shuffle my deck before my turn?

I usually shuffle right before I draw, but I don't think there's a difference.

One exception is that I never shuffle before I draw if someone else sets up the game/round. The reason I do this is that often there is time between when the game/round is setup, and my tactic selection. I prefer to draw the cards that the person setting up the game/round generated, and use that info to think through what tactic I'm going to select. It helps speed the game along while still (I hope) keeping it fair since someone else randomized for me.

Ultimately we should just strive for consistency here as there isn't any way we can really monitor who's doing shady acts.

Because then you need a moderator. Or else we can do self-moderated, which is more cumbersome.
