This was a question I asked in a previous thread.....

Basically... Battlelore or battles for westeros?

I am a new war gamer and I am a big game of thrones fan.....

Dunno from experience - I can't get my wife to play Battles of Westeros yet.

However, based on Dice Tower reviews and other reviews, it sounds like Battlelore 2nd Edition is the way to go unless you absolutely love the Game of Thrones setting.

The new Battlelore borrows heavily from Battles of Westeros. The one current advantage of the latter is that there are more expansions available. That may change with time though.
