first decide which side you want to play, rebels or empire.

next, how many ships will you be comfortable flying in the set amount of time?

Tournament rounds are usually 75 minutes, if the time is less than that, I recommend not taking a swarm (6 or more ships).

how many different dials are you going to be able to fly at once, different dials can cause confusion.

for rebels I recommend keeping it simple.

Two Falcons,
one falcon
----- and 2 x-wings,
----- and 2 b-wings,
----- and one x and one B
4x
2x and 2b
2x and 2y
3b and 2a

all the above lists are highly competitive, it depends on your piloting skill and upgrades on how well they work.

The rebel side has a little more hitting power and in the current state (meta) are a little better.

for imperials, more ships is usually better.

4 ties and 2 advanced
2 firesprays with HLC
one firespray and 3 or 4 ties

or if you want to run something hard

one or two shuttles plus bombers.

above all have fun, sit down between rounds, drink plenty of water, eat.

Its the store championship, the winner gets free entry to the regional. So that means offical tourney rules. I don't expect to win, as this will be my first tourney.

I'd like to run something easy.

nothing easier than dual push the limit falcons, I recommend Chewie with PTL recon specialist and Falcon Title , Lando with PTL, the crew that gives you two target locks, and nien numb.

it is easy mode and you only have to worry about two ships, the biggest problem is being able to fly between the asteroids, and tie swarms are the achilles heal, though they can be beat with superior piloting.

Thanks. I came up with:

YT-1300 Chewbacca, Falcon title, Hull upgrade, 2 B_wing Dagger squadron pilots both with advanced sensors.

Smaller ships to help go through astoroids.

In my first tourney I fought against two players with falcons--one with a b wing and hwk-190 and another with two rookies. I think if you use Chewie you want to use draw their fire. I just ignored the falcon and killed it last because it was producing the least firepower with the highest defense. Draw their fire is just one point and will spread the damage around.

The "Han Shot First" archetype--a Falcon and two escort fighters--is a good choice for a new(ish) player.

However, I'd almost certainly drop the Hull Upgrade. Push the Limit is a far better choice--consider that the first time you use it to get an evade token, it's already worth as much as the Hull Upgrade, and you can use it as often as every round.

I did that thanks. I can't use hull upgrade because its in Imp. Aces and that not tourney legal yet.

I just started playing this week and went to a store championship Saturday. I would recommend 3 rookie pilots and Luke with R2D2, shield upgrades, and draw their fire. I found it pretty simple to manage 4 ships and the list felt strong. It was a small store championship and I managed to win, although by running out of time in the final round with 1 more point than my opponent.

Did you play in the tourney yet? I'm just starting to dig into this game and I'm curious how your list worked out.
