I see that there appear to be several game groups in the Seattle area. We are hopefully *fingers crossed* going to move out there soon. Would the local groups like to chime in with their schedules and what type of games they play if they are accepting new members?

We have 200+ games in our collection (my boyfriend has our whole collection entered on his profile) http://boardgamegeek.com/user/ViperXpyro

We are hoping to find a group with a schedule we can make, that plays things we play. (Which is quite a wide range, though we do not do miniatures/wargaming, and only I play Magic per say, my boyfriend hasn't played since probably the 90's.)

We love a wide style of games- deckbuilding, area control/worker placement, cooperative, strategy, tile laying etc.

Re: Seattle Washing Area Game Groups?
Hi! Welcome to Seattle. You're going to find a pretty robust gaming culture here. There are groups all over the place, as well as many gaming cafes (Cafe Mox, AFK Tavern, Wayward Coffee House) that have games being played all the time. Meetup has some solid groups that meet regularly at these public locations. I highly recommend trying those out if it takes you some time to find regular home-based group.

Where around Seattle will you be living?

Dear Bethany,

Besides its annual convention in October, GeekGirlCon holds several gaming events each year in the Puget Sound area.

GeekGirlCon
http://www.geekgirlcon.com

GeekGirlCon has sold out each year in its existence (three years), therefore you want to get your tickets before October. There was a very large tabletop gaming area at GeekGirlCon last year.

They also have a regular board game night. The next one is on March 28.

The Cheers Boardgames Meetup Group is a good bunch of folks. I've made many friends there since moving out here a year ago.

http://www.meetup.com/Cheers-Boardgames/

We meet almost every weekend rotating amongst Libraries a short drive from Kirkland.

Don't miss the annual Dragonflight convention coming up in August. Three days of gaming of all sorts, with both organized events and pick-up games.

http://www.dragonflight.org

Jennifer Geske hosts several Sasquatch Game Days throughout the year with the latest releases from Essen.

http://www.meetup.com/The-Seattle-Alternative-Boardgamers-Me...

Hope to see you at an event.

Here is our group in West Seattle:

If you are on the east side, weeknights wouldn't likely work, but we have great weekend events. Please come check us out and welcome to Seattle.

We're based in the Renton Highlands area, heres a link to our Meetup group as well. We have a monthly Twilight Imperium game, a monthly Tide of Iron game, and although we focus more on the big epic games, we have shorter games on Friday nights. Welcome to Seattle! We just moved here last year ourselves, from Los Angeles.

If he's working in Kirkland, 2 open game groups that are nearby would be the Thursday50 group at Microsoft building 50 which gathers every...Thursday (there are 3 factions that attend that - a group that plays largely Euros, a group that plays mostly Ameritrash, and a group that plays nothing but 18xx), and the Parlour gaming group - which meets at building 37 of the Microsoft campus every Friday (that particular group plays just about everything).

1st Monday every month a couple others and I host a monthly Nerd Night @ the Columbia Tower Club (75th floor of the big black building downtown Seattle), which draws a similarly eclectic mix of about 40. There's even been a pen and paper group that's sprouted up there of late. I run a semi-weekly Heavy Game Saturday group, though that group is invite-only closed as it takes place in our private residences, so would have to hang out with you a bit first to make sure you guys'd be good fits (thankfully, have only had to boot 2 for drama and 1 because their social justice warrior "stuff" got to be too annoying, so it's a very stable group).

Lastly, there are periodic Sasquatch festival days @ the Coast Hotel in Bellevue. They run from about 9 in the morning till 2 or 3 in the morning the next day. Next one of those is on the 10th of May. Quasi-private, not a problem to get newbies in.

One-shots throughout the year include ECCC (comic convention), PAX Prime (and the pre-PAX charity tabletop/charity dinner the night before), Norwescon (general nerdiness), and International Tabletop Day (multiple venues and events). There's something called GeekGirlCon that happens at some point during the year and which also has a limited tabletop presence, but you'd have to be willing to tolerate a large amount of thought policing over the course of the weekend, so it's not for everybody.

If you want, you can message me about either of the Microsoft groups, the Nerd Nights, International (which is almost a year away now), Sasquatch, or the pre-PAX stuff in August, all of which I can get you introduced into. And maybe the HGS group if I determine you're a disciple of Wheaton's Law.

If you ever want a casual pick-up group of folks on the Eastside, my gf and I along with some friends (all couples) usually get together once or twice a week. Feel free to DM me if you are ever interested in gaming with us. We're always up for making new friends (because we are all similarly transplants from elsewhere).

You can also checkout the Boardgames & Booze Meetup group. We meet once a month on Friday nights. It's an adults only group and we play a wide variety of stuff, from party games to fairly heavy Euros, depending on who shows and what they feel like playing. The location is in Kirkland, so it's local to you.
