First of all i must to say, the variant was tested only with base game, without expansion. The goal of variant is making simple but more challenging, tensing and, maybe, more thematic game whithout adding doom token at each midnight or speeding up the clock. The mechanic is simple:

1) At midnight the new phase appear, "The Inevitability" phase. This is always first phase at midnight, even before the mythos card draw.
2)You must look at doom track in AO card, that in game. If the next (usually right) free space of last doom token has a doom token image - you must imediatly add 1 doom token to track, OR if the next free space on track has a monster image - you must add a monster in your game.
3) Then, you must play as always, mythos cards, midnight effects on adventures card, etc.

The variant create a many monsters spawns in game, be prepared). And variant is rebalancing the AO cards. For example Yig is more dangerous now, because of many monsters symbols on his track, and his ability with cultists.

Neat, that will always advance on doom and then spew endless monsters. Should up the difficulty.

yes, if doom token image next on AO card - place a doom token (no monster spawns), or if monster image on AO card next - place monster in your game (no doom token placemenet).

This could very well replace the "Nightmare A Day" variant, which is the most accepted variant to make Elder Sign challenging enough.
