There's some more info from WizKids presentation at http://www.crittohit.com/events/gama-trade-show-2014-wizkids...
The disappointing part is that this game is going to be EXPENSIVE - 50$ starter set, and 25$ for each individual dragon.
More interesting tidbits:
No factions, but different "elemental energies".
Ground troops will come in packs of 6 (25$).
Hero packs will contain a single hero (15$).

Pictures are expected later today (Wednesday).

Dang that is pricey. Sadly down the page the dice masters game seems like it is correctly priced. Why couldn't it be the other way around???

The game and first 8 expansions are on the preorders page at CoolStuffinc. for much less than that, so I wouldn't be too worried about the price at this point.

Exact quote:

Quote:
This year Attack Wing won't only be relegated to space; it's coming to fantasy worlds with Dungeons & Dragons! We'll know more tomorrow when WizKids offers demos and close up looks at the models, but today we learned that this game will feature large dragons, ground vs. air combat, troops, spells and breath weapons, heroes, and more. Coming in the Fall, D&D Attack Wing units won't have factions but will utilize different elemental energies. WizKids will roll out a Starter Set and eight additional models with three more each following month. Due to their large size, the Attack Wing dragons will be $24.99, which makes the three-pack Starter a great deal at $49.99. Troop packs with six figures and dial/templates will also be $24.99, and single hero packs will be $14.99. A D&D Attack Wing OP event is on the horizon, similar in length and scope to Dominion War (including a grand prize), but with the addition of tournament boosters. And while there weren't any images, WizKids also discussed the upcoming Dungeons & Dragons miniatures which will begin with a six figure Starter Set ($19.99) and then expansions of 50 or so figures in $16 boosters (in eight booster bricks). The minis will have the same great attention to detail and paint jobs as the Pathfinder figures, and also the same broad distribution for main RPG items. There will be storyline-related sets alternating with Pathfinder expansions, and they will have the same type of large case incentive promos. Interestingly, the mini line and Attack Wing will share sculpts.

I can't wait to see pictures of the troop packs. And the dragons. And the heroes. And anything else...

The prices aren't that shocking.

The price of the big Borg Cube coming out in Wave 5, it's the same.

So that probably gives an idea on the size of the dragons, at least.

I'm still looking forward to this but am on the fence depending on the use of ground troops. If they're mandatory, probably will push me away.

Ooh, looks like siege weapons are definitely minis, not just tokens:

With the announcement of troops boosters (6 minis) and Heroes boosters (1 mini), this really reduces the amount of dragons in each wave. Each wave would consist of a dragon, a troop and a hero booster. It would also allow people that want to play an adventuring party to have no dragon in their build.

We already know of 6 dragons (Gold, Silver, Cooper, Adamantine(?), red and blue). I wouldn't be surprise if the first wave had a 3th chromatic dragon.
Considering there will be Good/Neutral/Evil alignment, I could see them coming out with a good/neutral troop and an evil/neutral boosters at release and in the long run, themes troop boosters reusing mold from the rpg miniature expansions.

They also showed Dritz which would be our first Hero booster and I'm pretty sure they will have an Evil Hero booster at release.

As for the size of the dragon, there presentations had a scale in the side in what I assume were millimeters. That would put the red dragon at 5.5 inch high to the tip of his wing and the silver dragon at 3 inch high.

Thanks for sharing. I'm not especially put off by the pricing, but I'll have to stem the "completist" in me to keep from going overboard.

The scale looks pretty good to me. From the prior discussion I was beginning to fear the dragons would end up action figure sized to get a 25-28mm rider figure aboard.

It looks like the Dwarven Ballista is on a base about the size of Star Trek: Attack Wing ships, and the big dragon bases are around 4x larger.

So it's Gen Con next week, right? Right? I don't really have to wait 5 months for these, right?

The ground figures look like they're the same size as the RPG figures, 1" for people & 1 7/8" for larger figs like the ballista. The dragons are truly impressive, excellent detail and posing.

I think the Dritzz figure pictured is for the RPG line and not Attack Wing.

Wow! They look awesome. $25 MSRP doesn't seem especially extravagant to me for them.

As a reference for how big they are the dragon bases are probably 80mm (Millennium Falcon size) and the ballista would be on a 40mm base (standard size for attack wing and x-wing) with the round base of the ballista being 1"

I wish they make this it's own game and not just a port. Make the dice and flight templates, etc more reflective of the theme of the game.

Those prices do not match the ones from their original sales sheet.

I wonder what's going on.

The original sell sheet were based off the Star Trek Attack Wing prices, but due to the size of the dragon and the number of components for troop booster, they adjusted prices.

I know some online store put up pre-orders based on the original sell sheet. I could have gotten the first wave at less then 50% cost, if they could ship Wizkids product to Canada .

Except pre order prices are not fixed and are subject to change.

Its in the fine print at every site's details page.

I suspect they're using the STAW movement templates/dice because they don't have production versions of the AWD&D templates/dice yet. The base inserts and card templates are clearly made for this game, as is the blue range ruler.
