Today, BGG News brought a new dice filler game to my attention that's going to come out this summer - Machi Koro with expansion Machi Koro: Harbor at the end of the year.

I've ponder about getting a dice filler to fill that spot in my collection for a while now but none has made me want to purchase it right away.

I am just wondering what is the best dice filler out of these? I've traded away Dungeon Roll since it didn't stick with me.

I like my dice filler game to be easy to teach under 5 minutes and plays good at 2 players and scales up (since my gaming partner is my fiancee).

I love Dominion so was wondering about Machi Koro. Las Vegas has been on my wishlist for a while, but the price is what's stopping me from getting it. KoT, Escape: The Curse of the Temple, and Can't Stop doesn't interest me that much in the game play.

What is your favorite dice filler?

Meh. If he traded away Dungeon Roll, he's probably not going to care for Zombie Dice.

Qwixx
Teaches fast, plays fast. Still fun. Really fun.

Most of the games in your original list require a board of some kind, or a complex tracker. Qwixx requires pencil and paper, and tracking is VERY simple.

I also like Cloud 9 and Ra: The Dice Game, but they both require a board for tracking details. The board for Cloud 9, however, is not critical.

Thanks for the suggestion, I am not looking for a mere press-your-luck dice filler so even though it's a fun game that's distilled down to it's core I don't see me owning this one.

Thanks, I liked Bang but felt it went on too long for what it is. I will keep my eye out for this one.

Just got to have at least 4 to play, but six would be preferable.

Also, keep an eye out for Roll for the Galaxy. I don't know if it will be good or will fit your need for "filler" but I'm excited to try it when it finally comes out.

Zooloretto: The Dice Game is my favorite "X: The Dice Game" of all time, especially since it eschews the tired Yahtzee mechanic and gives the players real choices and real interaction. It plays very well with two players (right on up to four).

Las Vegas is a great filler with a more party atmosphere. It's lucky and high-energy and everyone is willing to advise you on your turn (for your benefit, of course). I like it at higher player counts (even above the box limit, with some house rules) but you have to shoot lower to employ the "strategic variant" of neutral dice.

Qwixx is also fun but feels a little more solitary. The turns are short and everyone has something to do on everyone else's turn but not really any direct interaction. We often use it at the end of a night as a wind-down (as opposed to Las Vegas which comes out at the beginning to get things going).

I'd go for either Escape: The Curse of the Temple if you like co-ops or King of Tokyo for a more competitive game.

Skip King of Tokyo. I like the game a lot, but if it will mostly be played with 2, then it's no good for you.

Ouch, I've checked out the Dice Tower video and this seems like a fun game but too bad its OOP and the secondary market charges an arm and a leg for it. Thanks for the recommendation.

Definitely Excape except it's for 3 to 6 players

If you need it to work with 2+, then I'd recommend Würfel Bohnanza.

If I had to choose from your list I'd go with Las Vegas, as long as you use the neutral dice variant in the rulebook.

This is probably the best of the Yahtzee-style re-rollers. Dunno what anyone sees in Roll Through the Ages: The Bronze Age when there are so much better dice games out there. :P

Fair point. It's kinda on the borderline. Games with inexperienced players will likely go fairly quick. Masters of it however can keep a game of it going a long time.
