I have around $200 to spend and I have a friend who already have the base set.

Don't forget Rebel Aces are coming out (1 A-Wing with 1 B-Wing), so don't buy too many A-Wings or B-Wings. I recommend at least one of each though, B-Wings are pretty impressive, and A-Wings I think are the only ships that have Push The Limit (a good pilot skill card).

My recommendation if you're doing retail pricing:
- $40: 1 Core Set (yes I know your friend has one, but you'll want one too)
- $30: 1 Imperial Aces
- $30: 1 Falcon
- $30: 1 Slave-1
- $15: 1 B-Wing
- $15: 1 X-Wing
- $15: 1 TIE Advanced (gotta have Vader)
- $15: 1 TIE Bomber

If you are going internet pricing, that would allow you to get 4 more ships. In that case, I'd get a Y-Wing, TIE Fighter, A-Wing and a HWK. In other words, one of every ship (except the Shuttle).

Your English is fine. About as good as mine, and I've been speaking it for 38 years. Ha ha.
I am looking to start playing this as well. I have the starter coming soon, and also wondered which expansions are "must have ". I really want Wedge Antilles. He's in the X-Wing expansion. I will probably only purchase 2-3 extra ships. Do I need to balance my Rebel:Empire ratio? Or because of my need for Wedge, should I concentrate on Rebels? Also, are the cards that come in the expansion packs only playable with the faction of the booster, or do they work for both sides?

Thanks for your help!!

I would by it on the internet, so the prices would be:

- $28: 1 Core Set
- $24: 1 Imperial Aces
- $20: 1 Falcon
- $20: 1 Slave-1
- $10: 1 B-Wing
- $10: 1 X-Wing
- $10: 1 TIE Advanced (gotta have Vader)
- $10: 1 TIE Bomber
= $132

- $10: 1 Y-Wing
- $10: 1 TIE Fighter
- $10: 1 A-Wing
- $10: 1 HWK
= $40

I would still have money for 3 ships

To balance forces (rebel and empire) what should I buy?

What do you think about buying a Tie Interceptor instead of the Tie Bomber and another HWK instead of the A-Wing (or 2 A-Wing instead of 2 HWK)? I think it would make a better visual (not a ship salad) but I don´t know in terms of gameplay.

I really like the Shuttle, so I'd recommend one of those, but I can see why some players don't like it.

I would not buy a second HWK over an A-Wing. The Imperial Aces comes with 2 Ints, and having a third Int isn't bad (you'll probably want 4 eventually). To even things out, you might just want a second Core Set. That gives you 2 more TIEs and an X-Wing, and more importantly another set of dice and measuring sticks. Mine are starting to wear down...

Go for the second core set - and if you can afford it, grab a TIE Fighter expansion as well (for the included Pilots).

I'm not sure what I'd drop to get it, but I'd recommend an extra Interceptor as well - Soontir Fel is one of the best pilots in the game.

The shuttle is great, but the majority of players here will recommend that extra Core every time.

At these prices I would suggest, in this order:

1. $28: 1 Core Set
2. $28: a Second Core Set
3. $10: 1 X-Wing Expansion
4. $10: 1 Tie Fighter
5. $20: 1 Falcon
6. $20: 1 Slave-1
7. $10: 1 B-Wing
8. $24: 1 Imperial Aces
9. $10: 1 Y-Wing
10. $10: 1 A-Wing
11. $10: 1 Tie Interceptor
12. $10: 1 HWK
13. $10: 1 TIE Advanced

Which is 200 I believe.

And further down the road:
$10: 1 TIE Bomber
$20: 1 Lambda Shuttle

Then, duplicates.

I also started with this list. It's the best to start things going and gives you great flexibility.

Thanks Everyone!

I think I will go this way:

1. $28: 1 Core Set
2. $28: a Second Core Set
3. $10: 1 X-Wing Expansion
4. $10: 1 Tie Fighter
5. $20: 1 Falcon

9. $10: 1 Y-Wing
10. $20: 2 A-Wing
11. $10: 1 Tie Interceptor
12. $10: 1 TIE Advanced

Do you know anyone selling X wing Lots? I think it might help buying more ships with the same budget!
