In one particularly epic Ionian Nebula game last night, we ran short of Trauma tokens, due to a number of players sitting in the brig a rather long time. During the Crossroads phase, we ran completely out of Trauma, except for a single disaster token. (The other one was on the board somewhere.)

Only Cylons drew trauma after that point, but there was no penalty for it; if any humans had drawn any, they would have been executed for sure. Do the rules say anything about this situation? Should we have mocked up more tokens or something, or do you think we were correct in abiding by the component limitation?

Wow. Things must have gotten really out of hand. I think you just keep playing with the limited pool and really make a point to start visiting allies...

IIRC, the only cases where "no trauma tokens" are for during the Crossroads phase you have no hand of trauma tokens left. The rulebook nor UFAQ never addresses running out of them pertaining to the supply.

Luckily, this doesn't happen as often, and I'd only be wary in a 7p game, but getting more tokens would be ideal. However, it can be impractical to keep them secret. As there's lower interest in IN, I have yet to come up with a houserule or tweak to help remedy this that involves bits and components that are readily more available.

We've had cases where the cylons stuck humans with trauma knowing that the next one would be a disaster and execute them.

Play with 7p, and this situation isn't as farfetched as one may think.

It's akin to running out of Leadership cards when you have the "green monster" aboard (aka Adama), but then have a crew where everyone else draws on average 1.75 green per turn. Several event crisis cards with no chance to discard them, nor skill checks to dump them into for effect (or no effect really), and sprinkle some CAC. Using Daybreak's Captain's Cabin location in a 7p boosts that even more.
