If the Russians are able to roll lucky early and activate Dohkturov's Column and move it to block the western road, Mortier will be cut-off from any reinforcements. Dmitry Dokhturov's force is large enough to keep Dupont from getting on the map to stay. Quick strong attacks can force these Frenchmen back off the board and easy victory points (they are considered eliminated if they retreat from the map). Strik's force moving from the broken moutains can pounce on the French as Miloradovich pushes Mortier's Corps back. With some minor luck casting the die, the Russians should be able to crush the French. If Mortier pushed hard forward toward Stien, Kutusov is waiting with a large force. French don't want to wake this sleeping Bear.

And that is an "if" not a certainty. Historically, Dokhturov managed to cut off Mortier for a time and Mortier rushed back to clear the road. The system was designed for a wide range of possibilities. I agree that its best to let Kutusov slumber behind his artillery park. Mortier was up against the wall. He succeeded by luck as much as ability. It is a n Against the Odds situation and sometimes luck just doesn't go your way. Glad you are giving the game some thought and thanks for picking it up

Great beautiful game! Coalition is usually the one clawing to survive, but this time the French are the ones with their backs against the wall.
