This will be a complex Veteran-level game using Kickstarter extras. The Veteran and Rescue Dog will be available (as well as the Structural Engineer), and special victims may also turn up (http://www.mediafire.com/view/l71qc1jyd583z1h/Extreme%20Dang...).

(Since there's been no official free version of the Veteran and Rescue Dog rules yet, I suggest you not take them on unless you have the promos yourself.)

The map is the Laboratory plus Attic from Extreme Danger. I will not be limiting the number of fire/smoke markers.

Rather than have a set number of false alarms, I'm going to roll each time a PoI is revealed, to see whether it's a false alarm (1-2 on d6), a normal victim (3-5), or a special victim (6).

You have a choice between Deck Gun and Hydraulic Platform, but I strongly recommend the latter.

Sign up on this thread as usual: state preferred colour, role and starting spot.

My standard PBF rules apply: if you don't take your turn within 24 hours and haven't warned me you'll be away, I'll take it for you. If you want to state conditional orders in advance that's fine with me. Remember that if you're on a vehicle or near the Veteran you may be called on to act out of turn.

I dunno, but I played a game with my son today and I think we finally figured out how to use the platform. Not only is it powerful, it gives the D/O player interesting choices that boil down to whether to be a Rescue Specialist, CAFS, or Captain on each turn.

Spot-on!

Only thing I've found annoying, is when as D/O in the 'bucket', and another player carries a victim up to the bucket, the 'handover' of the victim is problematic (you cannot have more than 2 in the bucket, whether two firefighters, or 1 firefighter and victim).

Yeah, we figured out that you either save an action for that so you can move the bucket on the same turn, get the captain involved, or use a paramedic as the runner so the victims are treated and loading them is a 2 AP move.

Sounds like fun - I haven't seen the hydraulic platform in play yet. I'm in #11, so add me to the end of the "bumped if a new player wants to join" list. I'll be following this regardless of if I'm in it just to see how the platform works out.

Let's think about what roles are most suitable here.

We've already discussed D/O and Paramedic, which I think make a great pair. That should be the extent of our "rescue" roles though. Veteran is slightly less useful on a map like this, as stairs break vicinity. Hazmat is certainly a good role to have, especially with 3 of 'em on the 2nd floor, next to a chemical tank. So here's my votes:

Driver/Operator - yes
Paramedic - yes
Hazmat Tech - yes
Generalist - yes
Fire Captain - maybe
CAFS - maybe
Imaging Tech - maybe
Structural Engineer - maybe (leaning toward no at beginning at least)
Rescue dog - no
Veteran - no
Rescue Specialist - no

Did the starting explosions damage the floor on the stories above them?

I'm thinking that we'll want to throw up some portable ladders as well - maybe one to the room with the chemical tank and all the fire, and maybe one up to the attic somewhere.

I'm assuming the firetruck will be on the west side of the building, right? Seems like that would be best for the hydraulic platform.

Floor damage rules only apply to explosions that happen in the basement. The reasoning from a gameplay standpoint is that it's to balance out the fact that the basement outer walls don't take damage.

Thinking of starting Engine at (3/4, 0) with Hydraulic Platform, with me at (3,0).

On my first turn either:

1/. (2AP) Deploy a ladder to 2nd story (3, 4.5), to provide alternate entry to that level (and the hazmat there) early, as well as alternate access to fires at top of stairs for other team members. This helps to remove complete reliance on bucket for transport; generally I've found having at least one ladder to each level in addition to the bucket quite helpful. Otherwise I'm sure we'll get to the stage:

"D/O I need you up here on third to remove patient/hazmat!!"

"But we have a veritable firestorm across 2nd story window frontage....... Gah!!!"

Of course anyone else could deploy ladder/s early too (Rescue Spec say?). Another one up to the 3rd story balcony would be very useful..

2/. Or (4AP) take bucket directly to 3rd story (6, 8.5) and immediately extinguish the adjacent 2 fires there.

Start me at (4,0) and I can go last in the turn order if we are deciding.
