Few days ago i were played a game and i am run out of... dices. My character was Ned, he has maximum XP and i choose this skills "+1 die: Ranged" and "+1 die: Combat". Ned has dual sawed off shotguns, so he must roll 8 dices at all (4 for shotguns, 2 for "+1 die: Ranged" for each hand, 2 for "+1 die: Combat" for each hand). But game has only 6 dices at all, what i must do in this situation???

If you don't have any other 6-sided dice around that you can use, then roll those that come with the game and then re-roll 2 of the misses. If there are no misses, then remember "6 hits", re-roll 2 of the dice, and add any hits from the re-roll to the remembered "6 hits". And so on.

Or you could buy more dice:

They're just 6 sided dice. You don't have any others you could borrow from other games, like Risk or Monopoly?

Is it official answer? When its happens i have two ideas:
1) some sort of your answer, additional dices or re-roll existence dices
2) the game has component limitations rule, if you must roll 8 dices and the game has only 6 - only 6 dices will be rolled, no additional bonuses at all.

I think if you run out of dice, all dice get an extra activation.

Seriously, though, it's only dice. Just keeping re-rolling dice until you have everything you need. There doesn't need to be an 'official ruling'.

I think the most I've had to roll was 22 (car through swarm of zombies). Thankfully I kickstarted the game so had enough dice so I didn't have to reroll over and over.

If there were a limitation on the number of dice you can use do you not think it would be mentioned in the rules somewhere?

Also, is it likely that you'd be able to buy more dice, or that people who backed the Kickstarters would have been several multiples of the number of dice in box?

However, if you really need an 'official ruling', I recommend emailing rules@guillotinegames.com and asking for yourself.

Please post their response in this thread, if you do, so we can all be sure we're playing the game correctly.

Snarky comments aside...

There are no dice limits that's just all they provided in the box. They do sell sets of additional "official dice" which come in a variety of colors and have the Zombicide head for the 6, and Molotov for the 1.

Failing that, steal some from the Yahtzee, Game of Life or Liars Dice sitting on your shelf.

Is that how you play it? We always use Molotov = 6 (good) and Zombie = 1 (bad).

I don't like having to think about it when I'm trying to kill things, so I usually just take the set that has regular 1-6 dice pips on it for myself and let my husband or other players use the other sets.

But now I am curious how other gamers interpret the symbols...?

That's how I play it (even though the molotov kind of looks like a one).

We use molotovs as a 6 as well. Although I believe if you orient the Zombicide die in the same way as a regular die, the molotov is in the 1 spot and the zombie head in the 6 spot.

That's the opposite of how we roll them. We use the head for the 1 and the Molotov for the 6. We decided the Zombie head represented a failed roll better than one of the more powerful weapons in the game.

IIRC, GG/CMON stated during the first KS that it was Molotov=6, Zombie=1.

It's probably the resemblance to 1 the Molotov Icon has that made us play that way. I always looked as the Zombie Head as a headshot kill. It fills the dice face like the 6 pips do.

Interesting.

As an aside, my favorite dice for this game are from the new Yahtzee world series games...

The have this really neat 2 tone design I've never seen on any other dice. And the edges are a little straighter meaning they don't roll all over the table.

Dude whoa those are expensive dice.

$13 for 6 dice? I mean $13 is not a lot of money, but for 6 dice it is. Yeah I'd say just grab some extra dice.

They have Zombie heads and Molotovs, for the ones and sixes, though!
