Hello,
Can you please recommend some good team based games (2vs2, 3vs3 etc)? So far 1775: Rebellion seems to be a good option, but game seems too much "luck of the dice" for me. I understand you can house rule some games, especially the wargames but I am not quite the hardcore wargamer. I prefer something more in the likes of Kemet for direct confrontation game.

Thank you in advance!

If you don't mind the teams being unknown, hidden, or uncertain, then in the increasing order of length of the game:

One Night Ultimate Werewolf (3-10 players), The Resistance: Avalon (5-10), Battlestar Galactica: The Board Game (3-7, preferably with Battlestar Galactica: The Board Game – Daybreak Expansion for 4 players).

Stronghold works in teams (1 side attacking the other, 2 player share 1 side)
Space Cadets: Dice duel
Memoir 44 with the Overlord expansion.
Super Fantasy (hard to get outside of EU, and its only 1 level that has a team scenario).

Sorry but Battlestar Galactica isnt a team vs team game in my opinion, the sides are unbalanced (2 vs 3) and the roles are unknown.

StarCraft: The Board Game has a team variant but is hard to get

Goblins, Inc. don't know much about it

Room 25 has a team variant, if I remember correctly

I did say unknown teams. However, the sides are not unbalanced even if the number of players on a team are, the game itself works against the humans.

+1 Room 25.

And a different 2-team dogfighting game with a varied level of casual and competitive play: Star Wars: X-Wing Miniatures Game, although you need some extra ships on top of the core set (or two core sets).

Dog (or the extended variant Dog Royal, or the very similar, but expensive TAC) is 2v2.
It looks suspiciously like the Parcheesi/Sorry everybody knows from childhood, but has several twists that make it into an actual game that is pretty good.
I don't know how hard or easy to get it is outside the German speaking countries... However, I think it can be tried with a very simple board drawn on a piece of paper (or downloaded from the file section) and 2 sets of regular playing cards. English rules are here: http://www.dogspiel.info/regeln/rules_e.pdf

I'll add Star Realms. You might need more than one copy, but the base game is dirt cheap.

Thanks a lot for the suggestions. I have started checking each and every suggested game. War of the Roses sure seems interesting enough. Stronghold also seems interesting.

Space Cadets have been on my watch list for some too.

Anybody care to also suggest slight WarGame?

and here's a game I doubt many will have heard of, let alone recommend... TAC.

A brilliant 2v2 game. The board is beautiful as well! But if you live outside of Germany/Austria, be prepared to pay a lot of money!

Or just get its almost identical cousin DOG - much cheaper, but not as pretty. It can handle 2vs2vs2 as well: there's a six player side to the board, but I wouldn't recommend that as much as 4 player - I feel it's a bit too long. Four is just right.

Recommended both just a few comments above yours whistle.

I've not played it, but i usually see Shadow Hunters suggested in these.

I think you could probably play Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective: The Thames Murders & Other Cases in teams but maybe I'm wrong on that one.

Don't worry about 1775. It's got luck and dice but I've never felt like they ever really killed my game because if you roll a blank side (Command Decision), those can be used quite strategically.

And i guess I'm the only one to say it but: Tash-Kalar: Arena of Legends, the new Vlaada game, is a really cool tactical team game

Conquest of the Empire or the similar Struggle of Empires. Alliances are switched around each round and determined with an auction.
