Are you compelled to always trigger your passive?

Take Ripley... sorry "Agent Silver"... her passive says..

PASSIVE:
When Attacking with any Rifle: Perform an extra attack with
the flame thrower

So is this forced, or can you choose not to activate it if for example you do not want to roast your own squad members alive?

I 've played with being able to choose wheter or not to use passives. some involve an extra cost for example and you might not want to expend it.

Hi,

You are not forced to use any power, even a Passive one, so is up to you.

Thanks

Dose that include say the biotechs lightning effect adding area effect damage?

Also the lightning bolt adds "5 area damage"... are these hits that need to be rolled against? Or are they direct damage.. if so how do you split them among the area.. just divide as evenly as you can?

Hi,

The weapon's bolt effect [like the Area damage for the shotgun at short distances] must be applied, there is no way to avoid it.

Thanks
