I'm in the advanced search right now:

http://www.boardgamegeek.com/advsearch/boardgame

and I can't find the name of the mechanic I'm looking for. When a shifting market of cards is available to the players not for bidding but at a set price (as in Suburbia) or as an action (as in Jaipur or even Ticket to Ride), what is that called? The closest thing I can find in the BGG advanced search checklist is Auction/Bidding, but that's not it. It's not really Trading, either, if you don't exchange anything from your own hand.

Am I overlooking an obvious term?

For some reason I have the term "The River", and is used for buildings in The Manhattan Project

I'll edit when I find a geeklist listing these.

Tracing the lineage of the 'card row'/'supply track' mechanism

Ah, I see. We have to call it "Card Drafting." My own conception of card drafting is more of the 7 Wonders type (option C in that Geeklist); I wasn't aware BGG used it for what I meant (option A). Many thanks.
