Hiya! Question for you all, if you would please. I have a modest collection, all being housed in a 5x5 Expedit unit in a spare room. What I am finding is that there is a lot of unused space between a few games and the edge of the shelf "box." In order to maximize space, it would be beneficial to use up that space with more games. However, I only own a few games which use boxes thin enough to fit in the spaces.

What are the top games out there with skinny boxes that I should be considering to add to my collection?

Apologies if this is posted in the wrong subforum, or if this has been asked recently. I would much prefer a link to said post or GeekList, should one already exist. Thank you!

Some of my "filler" games are:

Pandemic - squeeze all the expansions into 1 box
Kingsburg combined with Kingsburg: To Forge a Realm - fits easily in the smaller box from the expansion

Caverna? That box is pretty thick and jammed full of goodies, no way is it going to be slotted into an otherwise nearly full shelf.

I was thinking the same thing about Caverna... Like, exactly opposite of what I was asking.

These are what on my shelf, which I so happen use them to fit in the narrow spaces:

- Tournay
- Silverton
- Magnum Sal
- Dawn of the Zeds (Second edition)
- Band of Brothers: Screaming Eagles
- China (as big as power grid, but thin on side)
- Ticket to Ride Map Collection: Volume 1 – Team Asia & Legendary Asia (this is an expansion)

I think the idea behind Caverna would be to replace one of the games in the square with extra space with Caverna, which would be thicker and thus fill the empty space. This only works if you have available shelf space elsewhere for the displaced game.

I just measured the skinniest looking boxes in my collection ("normal" boxes, not those smaller boxed games like Jaipur or Battle Line).

The thinnest box of them all is ASL Starter Kit #3, which is 4cm thick.

Next up is Pandemic which weighs in at 4.5cm.

Then, there are a bunch of games that are 5.3cm thick.

These are A Few Acres of Snow, Twilight Struggle, Paths of Glory, and Through the Ages: A Story of Civilization

You probably don't want the boxes squeezed in. Some space would be good as everything will expand or shrink depending on the temperature and other things.

Any Cheapass Games game in the skinny boxes would work, e.g. Fish Cook, Veritas, etc.

These are all exactly what I was looking for! Thanks!

And I realize that I don't want everything shoved in there, but when I store my games vertically, sometimes the lid comes off a bit, allowing the bits to shift. I do have a couple areas where the games are stored horizontally, but I typically do not like the stacking method.

+1. Not the best game in my collection. But definitely my favorite box. And very skinny. (And not a bad game, I should add.)

Any games in the KOSMOS 2-Player series should fit the bill.
