A comment that I've often heard about Citrus is that it is very hard to plan in advance and to develop a strategy. Players end up waiting for their turn and then they check what is left in the market at that time and take the most appropriate tactical decision.

What about the following variant to allow more advance planning?

Variant: each time a player buys plantations from the market, he can optionally keep one tile face up for later building it. In the following turns, when he already builds plantations using the normal rules, he can choose to build one or more tiles that he has put aside previously.
