So, we played our last Act II quest in Labyrinth of Ruin. We played a quest that had to do with balancing weights (forget the name). The OL brought out Shades and Carrion Drakes. I opted to moved my Apothecary, Elder Mok, toward the Shades, who were waiting by the scales. We stopped our gaggle of heroes, including the Beastmaster, his wolf and Raythen in the hallway outside of the Armory and allowed the Shades to attack us.

Meanwhile our Hexer picked up a weight and ran toward the other scales burning his feat (4 extra fatigue) to step on the scales so if he was knocked out, the weight would land on the scale. Also, our Treasure Hunter found both the Treasure Chest and the Secret Passage in the top two cards of the search deck, so he was busy scouting out the Dragon Shrine.

On the OL's turn, he went full on assault and unfortunately, did minimal damage to the Beastmaster and Apothecary and absolutely no damage to the Hexer, thanks to Rune Plate.

Now our entire campaign, Mok has carried a weapon with Blast as a surge option (found in the introductory quest) and upgraded after the 2nd Act II quest, so the OL learned to leave his monsters separated. I think he forgot this time around and he had 4 shades all together and all three Carrion Drakes bunched up as well.

Our Hexer used his first attack to Hex one of the monsters. His second attack he used Plague Cloud and ended up doing 14 damage to all three Carrion Drakes.

Then we argued over our next play. The Beastmaster wanted to attack 4 times between him and his wolf, but acquiesced to the request of Mok to go next. Using a combination of Inky Substance and Secret Fomula and his new Staff, Mok rolled Blue, Yellow, Yellow, Green, Green and had the Surge: +2 ATK, Surge: +2 ATK, Surge: +2Atk, and Surge: Blast available to him as bonuses. All in all, Mok killed 4 Shades with a Blast attack of 11 to each.

Needless to say, there wasn't much left for the OL after that, we took our time and made sure we finished up the rest of the Challenge and Search tokens.

You know that Heroes that are blinded by their combat success are often making unbelievable mistake that can cost them their life of victory...
You fool... you just fall into the overlord trap !
While you were focused on these poor shades decoys, you didn't saw the real menace, and now, it's too late for you to save the city of Nerekhall... you're miles away from the ritual place, and nothing would now prevent the return of Mirklace...

The overlord win
