Looking for games similar to Zooloretto. I especially like the tile placement mechanic used in this game, and looking for something similar in it's essence.

Hm. It's a set collection game but that's a very brad category. Any other aspects you have in mind to narrow down the nature of similarity here?

Also moed b'simcha.

When you say placement mechanic do you mean filling up the plots?

Alhambra has a similar sort of thing going on where you have to place tiles after you purchase them.

I get a similar sort of vibe from Among the Stars and suburbia too.

In each of those games you can choose tiles or cards from either your hand or a shared selection and then choose where to build them.

Perhaps try Oasis.

That is perhaps the game that reminds me the most of Zooloretto's tile-laying mechanic.

Have you tried The Hanging Gardens? It's set collection with a puzzle-y placement element, as well.

You should really consider looking at Bohnanza. It is set collection game with a lot of interaction and definitely family friendly.
In terms of a connection regarding theme - Steam Park may be a good choice.

Hope this helps

I would've suggested Zooloretto Junior otherwise.

Given that, California is by the same designer, and your placing tile here too. However, as Uberplay is long out of the business of publishing board games, you may not be able to find a copy of this

Tigris & Euphrates, although heavier, may also fit the bill.

+1 Zoo Sim

Also called O Zoo Le Mio (Rio Grande)

Interesting tile laying concept and keeps in line with the zoo theme.

I highly recommend Kaigan. It's like a gamer's version of the Retto series...but not too, too heavy.

Ticket to Ride reminds me of the feeling of playing Zooloretto.

In both games you must decide when to pick up the item you want (animals/trains), what you want to collect, & you are creating sets of these to generate points.
