Be it a sophisticated game design or stylish graphic design, what is the game you consider the classiest?

Chess.

The nice set. You know, the one with weighty pieces and inlaid board.

(Not the plastic travel version that you keep in a baggie 'cause the cheap latch on the little suitcase won't stay closed...)

I have a nice "leather" travel backgammon set. It's pretty fancy.

Founding Fathers

Playing a game about the writing of the Constitution has a certain classy quality about it, it's pretty interesting to discuss the differences between the game's version and the historical version of the articles that were passed.

I am proud to have opposed those who describe all who oppose them as "Tender Flowers" and "Special Snowflakes".

I have a backgammon set done by David Levy using exotic hardwoods. It's quite lovely.

The detail, in-jokes, and other references in the board graphics is great, and the components are thematic as well (bar shaped blocks for metal, cylinders for wood, and cubes for stone blocks).

Probably Agricola. Voted by the world's largest board game website as the 3rd best game of all time, it really is a lot of game in a box and it sits proudly on my shelf beside some other fancy things as the show-piece game - the pinnacle of board gaming achievement

Well, I guess I technically "own" it since I've paid for it and now I'm just waiting for it to be published and sent to me...so I'd say the Tokaido Collector's Edition is my classiest game. Assuming everything is as nice as the Kickstarter has lead me to believe. Other than that, maybe one of the ones from Oink Games...they're very nicely designed with high quality components.

I went to Japan for work and while there I bought a really nice Mahjong set for my wife. It's in a silk covered case and all the tiles and pieces are made of bamboo and beautifully painted. That's probably the classiest game I own.

If anyone ever mocks me for owning a bunch of board games, I think I'll point to Here I Stand and be like, "Take a quick stroll through that, baby, and tell me I don't have culture, class, and sophistication. Just give it a good tug; it's wedged in pretty tight between Republic of Rome and Go, suckah!"
