We don't play Amun Re often enough and we're anxious when Marc-André brings it. This heavy game is a favorite in our group. We like the mechanics, the interaction and the suspenses during the original betting round for each province.
The first provinces won were poor and the bids were also very low. There was no province with more than 1 farmer so the sacrifice round wasn't rich at all since many players had more to win with province containing camels. Bids for the first epoch stayed very low all round long. Marc-Andre decided to bid for 2 provinces with temples and it paid him during the scoring round. He also scored well with the most pyramids on both sides of the Nile. Martin dis wll in scoring 3 special cards. Pierre had a chance to build more pyramids but he made an error and choose special card instead. At the end of first epoch, we had the fllowing score: Marc-Andre: 17, Martin: 16, Mario: 12, Pierre: 12. Bids for the province stayed low for the beginning of second epoch but Pierre managed to win provinces with many pyramids and farmers. With the use of special card that gave +1 $ for each farmer in each of the first 3 scorings of epoch 2 he had a good amount of money and used it to give high sacrifice. The end of the game was exciting and the bid went a little higher but Martin and Mario had some cash problem and the bids were still unusually low for a Amun Re ending.
Pierre had a good final scoring but it wasn't enough to catch Marc-André. It was a long time since our last game of Amun Re and we will not so long for our next game.
