It's that time again -- time when I get the urge for a big free-shipping purchase, and I rely on BGG to "catch me up" on some games from the past year that I may not be aware of. A couple of years ago I got some great recommendations from this forum. I'm looking for similar suggestions.

What do you consider some of the "must-have" games from the past year?

Again, if it helps, here are some long-time favorites and recent hits:

All-Time Favorites
Twilight Struggle
Arkham Horror
Maria / Friedrich
Vinhos
A Few Acres of Snow

Recent Hits
Android: Netrunner
Terra Mystica
Robinson Crusoe: Adventures on the Cursed Island
Russian Railroads
Sentinels of the Multiverse
Pax Porfiriana

Lastly, I enjoy nearly every genre of game, except abstracts. I tend towards heavy Euros, but I also enjoy experience games, TCG/CCG/LCG, lightweight games, deduction games, etc., etc.

I would agree w/ the above and I also would have to say that Polis: Fight for the Hegemony seems perfect for you.

Navajo Wars is a stunning game; well worth investigating if you're happy with something with some heft. I'd agree that Lewis & Clark - despite some quality issues - should interest you, too.

Fantastic suggestions, everyone! A few of these I've played, a few are on my radar, and there are several that I've not heard of.

Have Played
Navajo Wars (own)
I've got a copy of this, and have run through the example of play once. Unfortunately, I set it aside before I had the chance to try a game for myself. Now I've forgotten everything I learned. I'll have to start over.

Bora Bora
Played, enjoyed, and am happy to play again. It wasn't a buy for me, but a solid game.

Nauticus
I've played this twice, and it was just okay. I would play again, but would probably not seek it out.

Russian Railroads (own)
Bought at BGG.con, and really enjoying it

Glass Road (previously owned)
Bought at BGG.con. It was okay, but sold after 2 plays. It feels like it's just getting started, when it suddenly ends. I don't feel like there is any time to build an engine. The mechanics are FANTASTIC, I just don't like the arc of the gameplay.

Caverna: The Cave Farmers
I've played 2-3 times, and I dig it. Someone in our group owns a copy, and I don't think it crosses the threshold for purchasing my own copy.

Eldritch Horror
It was fine. When I heard it described as "streamlined Arkham Horror", I instantly checked-out. I love me some Arkham Horror, in all its chrome-plated, bloated glory. It's something I find charming about AH. Although I can appreciate the accessibility and improvements in EH, I'm just too much a fan of the original game to buy this one. I'd certainly play it again, but probably not purchase.

On My Radar
Concordia
This one has come up a couple of times. I'll definitely consider this.

Eight Minute Empire
I saw this (Legends) being played at a couple of our game nights. I may have the opportunity to try-before-buy, but I am interested.

Rococo
Rococo looks really interesting. I need to watch a video of this one.

Amerigo
Francis Drake
These are on my radar, but I haven't done my research yet.

New Suggestions
None of the below were on my radar. Great suggestions, and I've got some research to do!

Bruxelles 1893
Maderia
Yunnan
Helios
The Capitals
BioShock Infinite
Citrus
Archon: Glory & Machination
Legacy: The testament of duke de crecy
Rialto
Carcassonne: South Seas
Lewis & Clark
Istanbul

Polis: Fight for the Hegemony
Wow, this one looks incredibly interesting. Very great recommendation -- this may be one of the first I take a long look at.
