Five players is tough in the best of times. Even with plenty of Henchmen, it's tough to get the three attack in hand for the first couple cycles, and things are pretty likely to escape.

Feeling insane, we decided to crank up the difficulty, and come up with the absolute hardest scenario we could, and it was a doozy.

The setup goes with Apocalypse trying to Splice Spider DNA. This gives two massive power bonuses to two of the tougher villain groups in the game. With two others to go, we went for sheer numbers with Heralds of Galactus and Streets of New York.

For Henchmen, there were no favors granted by ninjas or mutants here. Maggia Goons were going to eat up resources and Phalanx were going to take out hard earned attackers.

11 Twists, no punches pulled.

When it came to heroes however, we had our work cut out for us. Cable was a given, as he's hardwired to take out Apocalypse. Domino supported him, and gave potential for Versatile, and even doubled resources with the right combos. Nightcrawler was next. Have something you can't use? Teleport away from Apocalypse's Master Strike. Daredevil was another given considering the benefits of Wall Crawl, and Backflip was an easy choice to KO from escaping villains.
Yellow support was at a premium, so X-Men Wolverine was a no brainer for both card support and massive damage potential from his rare. Ghost Riser rounded out utility, being able to burn both Sinister Six and Horsement, preventing them from being resurrected by effects.

We got pretty lucky though. Two Master Strikes hit in the first two rounds, and Maggia Goons made up most of the villains. Sandman thankfully came out to an empty city at the beginning of round 3 where he was crushed by a Specialized Ammunition discarding Lucky Break (plus a trooper.

Then Kraven made an appearance, coppying Berserker Rage, that even Morg couldn't get rid of. Two Firelords in a row didn't help either.

When we really thought we had it however was a very ill timed appearance of Jigsaw. It took a turn stall from an attaching bystander to prevent Vulture from escaping.

Immortal and Undefeated didn't do us any favors either, and thankfully a well timed Army of One discarding an entire stacked hand of Shield (a gift from Wolverine) to take out Death before he had a chance to make us lose by Horseman.

In the end it took a massive combination of Teleported Nightcrawler support, Swashbuckler, and Berserker Rage to really end the game (two mastermind hits in one move, Ironically set up by the second Jigsaw) We had plenty of escapes, and KOed heroes, but everything was just short of losing.

Toughest match we ever played, but SO worth it.

Did you say that Daredevil has Wall Crawl?...

LOL, no. But with the scheme everything has Wall Crawl, so Daredevil can easily take advantage of it. Backflip is redundant, but it made great KO fodder.

Oh ok. Yeah you are right. I forget that scheme does that.
