Brother Gherinn ventured in quickly, encountering only straight corridors. When moving trough one chamber he got hit HARD by a spear. Then wild Razorwing hit him even harder. All in shambles Brother managed to defeat Skeleton, but got hit some more.
Not soon later he encountered another monster. Brother wanted to run, so he used his blood magic to increase his chances. That was not very good idea, since all 12 gods of bad luck decided to appear at once above his head. It was time to use his rune of luck to change the fate*.
Brother run from the monster deeper into the dungeon, where he was cursed by the wizard. Remember that part about corridors? Uh oh...
He was already very near to the chamber of Kalladra, when cave in happened. He spent some time slowly getting out of it and entered the chamber*. There he grabbed all items of value he could, including Staff of Light, Chalice of Tamalir and more. With 8 items in his possession he decided to run for it.
The road he came trough wasn't too inviting, so he went trough uncharted territories to southwest. With unstable potion he found there he felt a bit reassured. Not further down he found passage down. He decided to move on trough the upper section of Dragonfire dungeon.
Fortunately for him the road ahead was looking quite good. Empty chambers, some more passages down. He got a bit scared that he might lose his way in dark chamber, but he still managed to stay on track.
He spent some times trapped in the webs, and then he came across a bridge. He decided to move back into the webs, where he lost some more time. Once he moved on he found secret passage that lead him to the room with crypt. Dead end. And portcullis behind him. He looked around, but all he could find was some gold.
The sun was about to set down...
He desperately tried to open the portcullis, then when he finally managed, with all his determination, he ran towards webs... again... He managed to go trough quite quickly... And he was back to the bridge. He threw out all his items other than Chalice of Tamalir and tried to cross the bridge.
Gherinn could already see the light from setting sun, meaning the exit was really close... And that is what made him lose focus. What a spectacular fall was it. Now somewhere in depths of the catacombs lies skeleton, tightly holding legendary chalice***.
*Doing this in 3rd edition wouldn't be possible, as escape wasn't an attribute test. I thought for a while that this was the end.
** By that time he had 4 determination tokens already. Nice.
*** In retrospection he should have tried to pass that bridge when he first encountered it. He had the same chances back then even when holding all 8 items. He lost a lot of determination later on the portcullis and webs
