What's your best guess without looking: How many US states are at least partially north of the southernmost part of Canada?

I went with

15, counting WA, ID, MT, ND, MN, WI, MI, NY, VT, NH, ME, MA, CT, RI and AK. Boy was I off.

Answer: http://kottke.org/14/05/us-states-north-of-canada

I wonder if the Canadians will guess better than the Americans.

Hmmm...the problem seems to stem from how far south of their largest 'straight' border parts of their nation reach to.

Only one way to solve THAT one...

Looking at a map, I don't understand why SD is not on the list. Must be an optical illusion or has to do with curvature of earth or something.

Check the answer link, not my spoiler. My spoiler is what I guessed - and failed.

Nope. My guess was 5 to 7. We simply aren't taught that much about US geography up here, and though I probably can name all 50 states, I certainly would have a hard time doing so.

None.

Some are partially or entirely north of Canada's southern border but none are North of Canada.

Ah, thread title and first post difference!
