I know one only needs to match pictures, but I am also curious about the names people use for the commodities. I also have what I thought was an interesting observation - the bonus tiles seem to be grouped in combinations that make sense. What names should each bonus tile have?

4. fur / bear rug
5. fruit / oranges
6. wheat / grain

I'm not saying the pictures perfectly match up in combinations, but I think some of them do. Thoughts?
1. Dress Up
2. Dinner
3. Decorations ?
4. ??? Maybe Orange Juice (OJ)? Oranges squeezed into the pottery.
5. Farm
6. ???

I look forward to other's guidance.

It never occured to me to name those bottom tiles, but I somehow like the idea. Here are my suggestions:

1. Jewell Thief
2. Let's eat!
3. Dead bear (the column fell on the bear....I know it's a stretch)
4. OJ
5. High Cow (don't ask)
6. Love letter (perfumed letter)

1) Most likely Perfume or Olive Oil
2) Livestock
3) Oil Lamp
4) Hide
5) - 10) Agree (though would say Fruit, Grain, Gems specifically)
11) Probably Scroll or Contract
12) Capital (specifically Corinthian capital)

I don't know that the bonus necessarily go together.

1) things you mine / craft
2) Biblical miracles? (fish/loaves, water to wine)
3) things you craft
4) nothing really
5) things you grow/farm
6) nothing really - if that is olive oil, it would have gone better with the lamp

But yeah, as mentioned, it's Feld so may be nothing more than how they were sorted when the graphics were put together.

Despite your hope, there is not even any inherent symbolism; gravity is simply a coincidence.

I see "Neti Pot" for what you call "pottery". So that bonus tile (oranges + neti pot) is "Things you use to get over a cold".

The commodity bonus tiles are a story of romance. How can you not see that?

Beef & Grain - Lunch - Our lovers first date. He takes her to a burger joint. They talk, sparks flare.

Scrolls & Perfume - Romance - Our protagonist sends his affection via a love note and a gift of perfume.

Wine & Fish - Dinner - The second date... a fancy dinner date at an expensive restaurant.

Diamonds & Jewelry - Gifts - Things are starting to get serious and he signals his affections with gems and baubles.

Columns & Bearskin rugs - Home Decor - The third date... he cooks dinner at home and shows off his styling pad and cooking skills.

Fruits & Oil - Scented Oils - Our lover has prepared for the "third" date with citrus flavored massage oils.

I think the column is marble. Or possibly granite, but marble seems like it would have more value as a trade good.

I thought #1 might be opium until my wife pointed out that the flower pictured doesn't look very much like a poppy. We finally settled on perfume for that one. Which would then presumably make the lamp-looking pottery piece olive oil, because you can't have a game that involves ancient Roman trade goods and not have Olive Oil... Can you?

I did send an email to Herr Feld; don't expect to get a reply but if I ever do I will post here.

I have enjoyed reading replies - both comical and serious. I think there are some really good options to use.

Thanks.

Still can't understand why they didn't put perfume/wine together. So confusing for beginners.

#1 is Perfume
#3, and I'm not sure why I haven't seen anyone else clarify this (not looking in the right places, I guess ) is OIL LAMP.

Hope this helps.
