Gopher Stealing Fairness Variant - When you attract a gopher of a color with two opponents tied for the smallest burrow in that color, you take one from the opponent with more total gophers. (i.e. if Player A has 3 gophers and Player B has only 2, you take from A). If they each have the same number of gophers, you take from the one with fewer penalty tiles. Only the number of tiles is known, not the number of sad faces. If they are tied on both of these conditions, then the player picks who to steal from as in the base rules.

Bus Tile Storage Variant - Now the bus moves when a tile with the bus symbol is selected, not when it is placed. This allows a tile with a bus symbol to be stored on the player board which is forbidden by the base rules.

Tile Draw Variant - This variant can be incorporated with either 2 or 3 face-up tiles in the market, but it is recommend to use only 2. Instead of selecting one of the face-up tiles, the player may draw and reveal the top tile from one of the stacks. They may then either place or store that tile as normal. If a bus tile is drawn, the bus moves as outlined in the Bus Tile Storage Variant above.

Burrow Renovation Variant - Note: This variant adds significant complexity to the game and requires the Bus Tile Storage Variant. In addition to the normal 2 options for a turn (select/store tile or select/place tile), a third option is now available to renovate your burrow! For this option, the player does not take a tile, instead they may swap any 1 tile in their burrow with the one stored on their player board. The swapped tiles must fit in exactly the same space in the burrow. If any burrows are created/destroyed by the swap, gophers are gained/lost according to the normal rules. There are always 3 tiles available to select from, so if a player renovates his burrow, a 4th tile is not added to the market.
