If, say the Mummy, attack has this modifier is activating the adventurers enough to defend? Or does the defense need to also include something supernatural? Or perhaps magic?

Put another way, how can I defend a supernatural attack?

Normal stamina can defend a supernatural attack.

Some characters are immune to it and some cards effect it but it does not need a special defence.

I'd like to add to this answer...

The only 2 attack types that need special blocking are

- Incorporeal (which requires supernatural defenses) or

- Unstoppable (which require reducing the attack to 0 or neutralizing it altogether, building up stamina will not work).
