Dan, if you're not showing a game I'd love your help again!

James

P.S. Remember you must join the FB group above to see the event.

James, how do we (designers) sign up for this? It's basically THE reason I'm going to GenCon this year, and I'd hate to miss out!

EDIT: I joined the FB group but still only see Protospiel Milwaukee under events.
EDIT 2: Once I was confirmed in the group, I saw the event and joined it. I'd like to enter two games, if possible. Where and how can I provide those details?

For the most part we wish that designers only initially buy one ticket. If after a week there are still more tickets then they can buy another table/night. Seats are limited and we want everyone to get some exposure. So show your best game and have some sell-sheets for your other games on hand.

Origins- tickets will be sold like normal tickets when they are sold. I've gotten little info/help from them so believe it or not I still don't know when that will actually be. Gez. They are $20 each.

GenCon- tickets will be put on sale about 1 week after the general tickets are put on sale. There will be a specific time/date. I will post that to the event in Facebook first and then start spreading the word. They are $18 each.

BGG.CON- being a FREE event will require me to actually pre-screen entries. So you'll be asked (sometime in August) to fill out a survey about your game and the times you can attend. I'll make a schedule and post it by October.

Please refer to my personal website for much insite on game design and pitching to publishers. http://www.JamesMathe.com

I wish this had been around before I got married. It would have been super dreamy to date someone in the industry.

Umm... while I think GenCon does have a speed dating... this is not that. This is about getting designers and publishers together to get contracts signed to publish games.

I'm pretty sure McJarvis said that with tongue firmly in cheek.

Ed Marriott wrote an excellent article of how to pitch your games at these events. Well worth a read if you are planning on attending.

I run these Designer/Publisher Speed Dating events. Well I agreed to run one at BGG.CON coming up Nov 19th in Texas. The problem is that Minion Games is not going to have a booth there, I hate flying and it's expensive, and BGG doesn't want me to charge for the event there. So, I've worked it out that Dan Naylor, who has helped me in past events, will actually run/MC the event at BGG.CON instead of me. I will NOT be attending BGG.CON at all.

I will however, since this is a free event, be pre-sceening the people who will be allowed to show there games. We'll have 8-12 tables each night and will host it Wed, Thur, and Fri. 8pm-10pm. Here is the event link:
https://www.facebook.com/events/233244090198533/

Now, for me to make selections of which games will be displayed, I will probably need to sift through over 100 entries just to find the 36 people we can support. So, I will be asking in the next week or two for submissions of your game information as well as a required sell sheet to be presented.

This post is only to give you guys a heads up. It's not a race and all entries will be treated equally that are entered during the submission period (about two weeks). More info will follow, but if you're interested, make sure you click the "Maybe" or "I'm Going" buttons on the above event so you get updates.

I won't be submitting anything this year (even though I have games ready), but I would like to help out if I can.

If anyone would like a pair of extra eyes on their Sell Sheet, geekmail me and I'll see if I can help. Also, James, if you need some help either prior to, or at the event, please let me know. I'm willing to help out where I can.

James has done amazing work putting these events together. I'll be the one managing the speed dating at BGG.CON, since James won't be able to make it.

Right now I don't know if we'll need extra help. but if you would like to come down and help during the event, come on down. We'll find something for you to do.

To save your voice, we need a custom Escape: The Curse of the Temple audio track made, but for 6 minutes instead of 10.

Still needs some sort of amplifier to work. Maybe one of the people driving can bring a boom box or amp?

Maybe a sand timer?
Have someone ring a bell or something to flip the sand timers. Maybe use 5 minuet timers and when they run out you know you have one minuet to wrap up?

A massive gong would be awesome. I wonder if I could rent one...
