This is something we've been experimenting with. So far it's worked pretty well.

Once per game, as an action, you may discard your Tycoon and draw a new one from the unused deck of Tycoons. Discarded Tycoons are shuffled into the deck and may be drawn by another player if they discard their Tycoon.

Nice. I'd love to try that one. We developed a system for increased Tycoon card choice (even with six players, working with the 10-card size of the Tycoon deck), and listed it under the variants, but your system seems even better.

It seems to work pretty well.

We've been doing the discarded Tycoons as hidden, so only the player discarding it knows what it is, but they could be done as public knowledge just as easily.

Putting the discards back into the deck was originally a practical matter, with six players you could run out of Tycoons, but it also adds some strategy. If you've got the first to six train card and someone beats you to it, you might not want to toss it in until after he's traded his.

??? But the card is scored as soon as the first 6 train is bought - either you get the points or you don't, and the card remains face up for the rest of the game

I'm pretty sure that tycoons are scored at the end. It's a good idea to tell everyone that you completed the first to six Tycoon when it happens to avoid fights later during scoring.

You turn it over immediately, but you don't score the points until the end of the game. It's only turned over to serve as a reminder that you were the first.
