When it is your turn to send a VASSAL move, the wait is excruciating. When it's my turn, well, I've been busy.

If I recall there is the potential for reaction to every move.

If I had to chose:

Unconditional Surrender! World War 2 in Europe

Unless you want to Play By E-Mail.

I do find some interesting concepts in The Supreme Commander

My all-time best is still Totaler Krieg! with Totaler Krieg! Player's Guide & Expansion Kit meeple

Fear cannot be banished, but it can be calm and without panic; it can be mitigated by reason and evaluation.

Well, I already own A World at War so I went with The Supreme Commander as from what I read it was closer in complexity and size to Hitler's War than A World at War.

The option to go one-map or two was a factor also.

It'll probably be like deciding between chocolate or vanilla ice cream. In the end, you are still getting ice cream.

I went with USE, myself. The mechanics are simply more interesting to me, and I appreciate the overall aesthetic. The lack of PBEM is an issue, but really, it's a solitaire game for me.

Same reasons for me. Plus, I've already had a chance to play TSC at my club - it's interesting, but I feel like the event mechanics in USE add more flavor. I guess we'll see if that's the case in about a week!

Well, I will certainly be following this thread to see what people start to thing (and the errata with TSC scares me a bit)

As I posted in the GMT 50% Sale thread, I've had no contact with TSC but USE is a very impressive effort upon first glance.

I'm playing the training scenarios solitaire now to get a feel for a system, and thankfully it's all coming together nicely without any struggles.

I can't wait to explore USE further with some ftf play in the upcoming weeks as I feel it has the potential to be a great game.

I play ASL over PBEM, it's definitely possible to play highly interactive games this way. You just play back your opponent's log until you want to react, then start a new log from there.

Yes I have played No Retreat PBEM which has a lot of interruptions. It's possible but after a while it feels like way too much hassle and better to play a different game. YMMV
