Both of these seem like cool cards, can't wait for the game to finally arrive!

Also, I hope that the expansions start rolling out soon after the base set. Fantasy Flight seems to often have a couple month delay before the packs begin to arrive (although admittedly part of this is because I tend to pick them up at Gencon as prereleases).

My ideal release schedule would be one small set every two months (and by small I mean small), with a bigger set (maybe a repackaging of the small sets?) once or twice a year.

Releasing cards too fast results in me never getting to actually refine a deck that I like, but too slow means it gets stagnant, plus we need to pbuild up the card pool some (at elast initially).

I know I'm just an old guy, but I'm still uncomfortable with the use of the plural pronoun with indefinitely gendered antecedents (see Make the Smart Choice). Every time I see it, it makes me think they are referring to multiple people.

Love the art on both cards, though.

Hopefully we still get something like "Jackelope Stampede".
At least something like the part of "resetting" opponents cheating hand to top 5 draw.
The repeat part isn't that necessary, as there's only max 50% of it triggering with maximized cheating deck.

I concur. "his" works just fine in this instance, and is still considered "proper grammar" despite not being "politically correct". If you are really worried about boosting the self-esteem of female players, draw the female images in a more realistic fashion. Just another opinion...

I'm not talking about faster releases or anything related to that. What I'm talking about is not having an atypically long gap between the base set and the first expansion. From what we've been told, there will be 8 small packs per year, so they're about 1 1/2 months apart. OK, that's fine. Then I want to see the first expansion within 1 1/2 months after the base set and not 3-4 months after. That's all I'm saying.

As you said, in the beginning the pool is very small and desperately needs to be build up, so it's in everyone's best interest to get on with doing just that.

You can never truly get rid of them… especially when the kids like them so much.

Something I was noticing is that out of all the deeds we've seen previewed so far, none of them have the Brothel trait which existed in the old game.

Have these been "sanitized" out of the setting?

As far as I recall, any of the cards that worked on brothels in the old game also worked on saloons. So it would make sense to simplify things by removing the redundant keyword.

I looked into this using the Doomtown lackey plugin for data...

These are the only Brothel deeds I found from the old game:

Golden Mare Hotel: Brothel
No-Tell Hotel: Brothel, Saloon
Miss Greene's Room: Brothel, Casino

Two deeds affected Brothels.
Glass Maker can raise the Influence of a Brothel, Casino, or Saloon
Dance Hall gets +1 production for each Brothel (but not Saloon)

For non-Deeds:
Lilith Vandekamp can produce money in a Brothel or Saloon
The Temperance Army shut down all Brothels and Saloons for a turn, but it was an Event so it wouldn't exist in the new game anyway
Caroline was an Improvement that could only attach to a Brothel
Life of the Party moved a Dude to a Brothel or Saloon
Water to Wine could target Brothels, Saloons, or Government Deeds
Piano Player was an improvement that could only attach to a Brothel

So in total the cards that worked on brothels and not saloons were 3 (assuming the lackey plugin data is complete):
Dance Hall, Caroline, and Piano Player

From a streamlining point of view I can see the point of merging Saloon and Brothel as what you lose mechanically is pretty slim. However, I also suspect that if it was taken out the reasons are likely as much about cleaning up the theme to remove something potentially objectionable as for any mechanics.

However, even if the keyword is gone, that still doesn't mean we won't see a card like "boot Caroline at a Saloon to boot a Dude at the same location" which hints at the theme though.
