Am I wrong about this or does the wild mirror flare let the poison win every encounter that does not involve negotiates?

Has Hazardous Home System (R) You have the power of Toxicity. Each time a card with a hazard warning is drawn from the destiny deck, use this power. Each foreign colony in your home system loses one ship to the warp.

In addition, as a main player, if both players reveal attack cards and your opponent's attack card value is within 2 of your attack card's value (such as an attack 04 and an attack 06), you may use this power to win the encounter, regardless of the actual totals.


WILD MIRROR:

Wild: As a main player, after encounter cards are revealed, you may change your encounter card into a duplicate of your opponent's encounter card.

Yes, that's right, and a similar thing would happen if you were both Poison and Warhawk. There are lots of strong card combos in this game, but they generally don't last forever thanks to the compensation mechanism. "Relentless flare" situations like this are great in my book, because they help to make negotiates far more valuable than the junk cards that new players tend to view them as.

Compensation from negotiates are a great defense, and also don't forget if a flare is zapped, it's discarded. A negotiate is probably just as reliable (actually more so) than counting on a zap to be present in a hand though.

In this case, compensation doesn't necessarily help, since Poison can play Wild Mirror to make a deal instead, and never has to give up the flare. You might just have to wait until he runs out of encounter cards and has to draw a new hand.
