So, imagine you make it to the final game of the Imdaar Alpha Event. What squad are you going to run.

I believe the rules are that you get the 2 packs from the 2 ships on your side and you have to make a list involving 1 of each ship then whatever you want.

My Rebel List
Coran Horn + Fire Control Systems + Marksmanship
Bandit Squadron Pilot
Lando + Push the Limit + Nien Nunb

My Imperial List
Colonel Vessery
Echo + Expose
Omicron Group Pilot + Advanced Sensors + Heavy Laser Cannons

Rebels:
Cracken + Squad Leader (21)
Knave Squadron + Advanced Sensors (30)
Biggs + R2-F2 (28)
Rookie Pilot (21)

Cracken hands out 2 actions (ideally a Focus for Biggs via Squad Leader and a Target Lock for the Knave during combat). Biggs takes R2-F2. After Biggs is gone, the Knave and Rookie continue to benefit from Cracken's action passing.

Imperials:
Echo + Veteran Instinct + Advanced Cloaking + Recon Specialist (38)
Delta Squadron Pilot (30)
Dark Curse (16)
Backstabber (16)

This is all about Echo. Decloak, Focus x2, Shoot, Recloak. Rinse, repeat.

It's too bad the Defender is so expensive because I'd rather have 5 Academy Pilots or 2 Academies and 2 Alphas accompanying Echo. Alas, have to include one, so...

Etahn A'Baht (32)
Lieutenant Blount (17) + assault missiles (5)

The Z and the X's have very similar maneuver dials, and the E should be close enough to fly everyone in formation. Blount makes a nice alpha strike, A'Baht improves an already solid offensive output. Biggs keeps A'Baht alive longer and gives Blount an opportunity to shoot the missile.

Imperials:
Whisper (32) + veteran instincts (1) + advanced cloaking device (4)
Delta Squadron Pilot (30)
Bounty Hunter (33)

Whisper's turn - After everyone else moves, he does the special decloak move, then the regular move, then takes a focus action, fires, gets another focus token, then cloaks again. That's a difficult target to hit.

I was thinking a lot of people are going to center their lists on Echo or Whisper so I was trying to get high PS with Corrand and Lando. Veteran Instincts is going to make that difficult, and recon specialist throws further wrenches into that. Not to mention it's near impossible to prevent Echo from being able to decloak. Uhg... I need an "Imperial Captive" card to stress him out

Maybe Lt. Blount with an Ion Pulse Missile will nerf a phantom sufficiently to sink some serious damage in.

For the Rebs I put together:

Lando + Vet Instincts
Airen Cracken + Vet Instincts
Corral horn

Lando's turret should help deal with those pesky phantoms, and will fire before any phantom except possibly whisper with VI (only if your opponent has initiative)

Lando and cracken will be handing out free actions, and corran can fire twice if he gets a good opportunity. Lots of high PS to negate any benefit from advanced cloaking device.

Holy crap. I just realized Lt. Blount + ion pulse missiles = auto ionization (and automatic 1 damage!)

I like this list.

I think with the Phantom, it's either all-in (Whisper+VI+ACD) or taking the cheapest option. With the Defender, I'm not sure whether the named pilots are worth their points.

For the Rebels, I'm thinking about
Knave + Advanced Sensors
Lt. Blount + Assault Missiles
Chewbacca + Falcon Title + Gunner (though missing Marksmanship, considering Cracken instead of Blount)

With the E-Wing, I also think it's either the cheapest pilot or Corran Horn. I think Etahn needs Epic play to be fully worth his points.

Whisper+VI+FCS+Adv Cloak could be a pretty good falcon hunter, I think. Take an evade, lob an unmodified 4 dice at a range 3 falcon, collect a target lock and possibly a focus, hide behind 5 dice and foc/evade, sprint past with a 7-K, possibly use the TL, gain focus, recloak.

You still have to get a target lock, but I suppose you could use Deadeye. It is a fairly expensive way to insure 1 Ion attack, but against a Phantom or Inteceptor+PTL, it is invaluable.

Just a note, Advanced Cloaking Device gives a free cloak action. If you are stressed, you don't get that.

Oh wow, it does: so Whisper could focus, use it on attack, get a free focus token, cloak, PtL, and take an evade? Then de-cloak and essentially move 5 forward, and do it all again.

It does make stress worse for a Phantom, though.

(or Chewie, to not worry so much about the Phantom)

Keep Etahn in the back getting 4 evades if the enemy decides to shoot him, or sucking up friendly crits and recuperating with R2-D2. Meanwhile Airen is swarm tactician having Chewie or a Rookie shooting alongside him with TL + F @ PS8.

Imperials:
Haven't given it much thought...
