I'll admit that it came to mind when I was reading the description and thinking of who the designer is, but I'd be down for a 7 player ghost stories!!

Wasn't Seven Swords just on Kickstarter? Like movies, games seem to be coming out in pairs between competing companies. I would like to know how the games differ to decide if I like one better.

Well there is no doubt that Antoine Bauza is my personal favorite designer so I have no worries that it won't be a great game. Just not sure how it is different from GS atm.

He is mine too. He does love to use the same mechanism from game to game. A lot of his victory point games use the same scoring system, so I would imagine that this would use several of the mechanisms from ghost stories. The thing that will be interesting will be to see if the combat is a dice system like ghost stories or some new invention he has cooked up.

Also I find it weird that it goes to 7 players, he must really like the success he has gotten from 7 Wonders.

No dice in this one but the playing experience is close to the one in GS, yes. I just wanted to work on something based the 7 Samurai movie then realize the pitch was the same than GS
Samurai Spirit is shorter, playable up to 7p and the gameplay is still quite different though...
Oh, BTW, both game are not so easy to win I guess

There are far worse things for a co-op than being similar to Ghost Stories In fact, I can't think of much higher praise! I'm in.

My thoughts exactly. Bauza. + coop + any similarity to Ghost Stories at all = instant purchase.

Normally I would say yeah but need to know more honestly. We enjoy GS so much I just don't know if this would hit the table.

Ghost Stories has been in my top 10 all time favourites for years now, so I'm definitely interested in this one.

Antoine, will the components be language independent?

The description says number of players 2-7 but can it be played solo? I can't see a reason why it can't.

There is another one 7 Ronin and it is more similar to Seven Swords being a 2-player game. But Samurai Spirit might be a full coop game reading from the description.

It's a full cooperative, yes.
Yes, you can play it solo but it wasn't design for it

Seven players because the game sounds as if it has used the plot from Akira Kurosawa's film Seven Samurai. The same plot was used in John Sturge's The Magnificent Seven.
Hopefully Antoine Bauza has acknowledged this in his game.

He's already acknowledged it a few comments further back:

This does sound similar to Ghost Stories yet different. I'm very curious to see more details. My only concern would be this game killing Ghost Stories. But this answer comes from the differences between the two.

Of course, you'll make your own opinion but the games are very different even if the pitches are similar

Antoine Bauza's name on the box = Insta-buy for me. Ghost Stories is my favorite coop. If this game is a similar feel and concept, but different mechanics to justify having both, no way I pass on it.

I really liked the way that Hanabi had players cooperating in a completely different way to any other game - will this be similar or a more conventional coop style like ghost stories?

Samurai Spirit is more conventional than Hanabi, yes.
My intent here was to design a coop you can play with a "large" group (up to 7p) in less than an hour (about 7min / player here). And to give some challenge for tough guys/gals
